[She's woken up by an incessantly cheery tune. It takes her awhile to place it as her network device -- and another while to figure why, because it's not the two beeps of a message or the tune Hei recorded to let her know her battery's dying.
It's a little calendar notification. One year in the City! She stares at it uncomprehending (always a little slow in the mornings).
One year.
Shaking her head, she takes a minute to figure out how to make the stupid notification away and then shoves that thought -- One year -- out of her head. She's just going to go about her day as normal. Ayup.]
[ video/action - late morning - option 1 ]
[Korra is out on the beach. You can only really see her face, but the sound of the waves is unmistakable.]
Hey Chekov, get over here. Bring swimtrunks. [It's time you learned how to swim, Spaceboy.]
[ action - late afternoon - option 2 ]
[Another day, another session of physical therapy. The hospital's practically a second (third?) home to her at this point. She walks through the front door, waves at the receptionist, and then makes her way towards the PT's office.]
[ action - evening - closed to Hei ]
[She's run out of ways to distract herself, but it's still too early to sleep. So even though she's tired -- and she's always tired, reason #754 why she hates that lunatic who shot her, because just being alive never used to be this exhausting -- she heads over to Hei's apartment to say hello and maybe be distracted.
Knock knock.]

action;
Is your shoulder well enough for swimming lessons?
action;
Now, without bending your knees, kick your legs. Just up and down.
[She stands behind him, her hands on his shoulders so he doesn't take off.]
action;
He hesitates before giving a few timid kicks a go. Sinking doesn't happen, so that's something (even if he feels decidedly dumb).]
After this, I should teach you to do something.

[Because for once, Mako has nothing better to do, so he stalks out to the open beach to investigate what that shiny lump is beside Korra... and, oh, it's just a very pale person.
He wades out with his black pants rolled up to his knees, resigned to getting them wet anyway, because he refuses to buy swim trunks. Besides, these come with pockets! Which make him look extra cool and nonchalant as he approaches. He keeps a brow raised when he acknowledges Chekov.]
Re: action;
[She looks up at Mako, frowning. Is he in a mood? She's not up for him if he's in a mood.]
Swimming lessons.
action;
Looks like he's drowning. You okay, man?
action;
It's hard to tell.]
I'm fine, yes, thank you.
[Standing... in the water. Not drowning.]
Re: action;
This week.This month.)]Like I'd let him drown. [Sarcastic, but with a smile to soften the words and add an apology.]
action;
Just be careful. I've heard sometimes you'll end up deeper in the ocean than you'll intend. The waves have a way of sweeping you off like that. Sea serpents can sneak up on you, too.
[All through the grapevine, because Mako doesn't spend time at beaches. Ever.]
action;
action;
Would you like me to step out for a moment so you can talk?
[This is a completely sincere offer. Really, he can take five and get back to you.]
action;
[He looks at Chekov and responds way more aggressively than he intends:] No! Look, I'll help. Are there at least water wings around here he can use, Korra?
action;
The streets don't know what they're talking about. And what are "water wings"?
action;
Thank you for the offer, but I can wait.
action;
You, can you float? [SORRY, he wasn't here for that conversation earlier.]
action;

action;
[—Hold on. He raises an eyebrow at Chekov.] Wait, have we met?
action;
When you were in the City before, yes, we did. Not everyone remembers once they leave--there is no reason to be concerned.
action;
[It'll just keep him guessing is all.] So what's your name?
action;
Pavel Chekov, and you can call me by whichever name is simplest. [He doesn't remember if their world is one of the ones where hand-shaking is a thing that happens, so he doesn't offer.] I'm pleased to meet you again.
action;
Come on. We've got swimming to learn. Let's try kicking again. This time, don't splash so much, and point your feet.
