[She's woken up by an incessantly cheery tune. It takes her awhile to place it as her network device -- and another while to figure why, because it's not the two beeps of a message or the tune Hei recorded to let her know her battery's dying.
It's a little calendar notification. One year in the City! She stares at it uncomprehending (always a little slow in the mornings).
One year.
Shaking her head, she takes a minute to figure out how to make the stupid notification away and then shoves that thought -- One year -- out of her head. She's just going to go about her day as normal. Ayup.]
[ video/action - late morning - option 1 ]
[Korra is out on the beach. You can only really see her face, but the sound of the waves is unmistakable.]
Hey Chekov, get over here. Bring swimtrunks. [It's time you learned how to swim, Spaceboy.]
[ action - late afternoon - option 2 ]
[Another day, another session of physical therapy. The hospital's practically a second (third?) home to her at this point. She walks through the front door, waves at the receptionist, and then makes her way towards the PT's office.]
[ action - evening - closed to Hei ]
[She's run out of ways to distract herself, but it's still too early to sleep. So even though she's tired -- and she's always tired, reason #754 why she hates that lunatic who shot her, because just being alive never used to be this exhausting -- she heads over to Hei's apartment to say hello and maybe be distracted.
Knock knock.]

Maybe things are changing, now that they both have more people from their own worlds here. Hopefully, it will be a good change.]
action;
You might wonder where she is.
She's coming up right behind you.]
HAH!
action;
You doing okay back there, Pav? [Mako glances behind him.]
action;
I have, so far, failed to drown, yes.

[Mako falls backwards and plunges into the water. He emerges just as quickly, spitting out water through his nose as he shakes his head. That kick really knocked the wind out of him!]
Okay, okay. [He coughs, yet straightens his back, not wanting to appear the kick impacted him as much as it did.] C'mon, let's teach your friend how to swim for real.
action;
['Cause not swimming looks a lot more fun.]
action;
You aren't done learning until I'm sure you won't drown.

[As if Mako has a say. All he's done is disrupt their lessons, AHAHA oops.]
action;
She tries to shake it off and swims a few meters away. (The distance helps hide the sudden shift in her mood.)]
Prove it, Spaceboy. Swim over to me.
action;
Oh. Chekov realizes how inappropriate his phrasing was far too late to do much about it, and apologizing to Korra might necessitate providing an explanation. Clearly, the only response is swimming over without drowning.
There is plenty of splashing, though. Thanks to that crash course in swimming, he can stay afloat and get somewhere, just... not gracefully.]
action;
Stopstopstop. Stand up for a second.
action;
My technique leaves much to be desired, I know that.
action;
[He crouches down in the water enough to get the water up to his chest.] You're gonna open out your chest every time you raise an arm. Keep it in rhythm.
[He briefly demonstrates.]
action;
How do you coordinate your arms and legs?
action;
Right now they'll probably stay relatively in sync with your arms. Don't focus so much on speed, just finish swimming over to Korra and let your legs do the pushing. They don't need to kick hard.
action;
He nods solemnly in response to Mako's instructions and takes off for Korra again, this time with a minimal amount of flailing (but still too much splashing). Yes, Chekov is pleased with himself.]
action;
Nice! We'll make an otter penguin out of you yet.
action;
[He's pleased with Chekov, too.] It's pretty instinctive once you've got the basics. Other than that, I don't know anything fancy.
