[Lucy is at the shop today as per usual. She's got an egg behind the register sitting in a snug nest of tissue paper she's stuffed inside her handbag. She's restocking, working on displays and all the usual sorts of retail things while keeping an eye on the egg. Feel free to come bother her.]

While I'm pretty sure it'll try to eat my face off when it hatches, I'm keeping it anyway. I mean Ingram started out on fire and he's turned into a very sweet bunny.

The bunny was on fire?

[ wait what how? ]

It was a city-wide thing. They spontaneously combusted when they got scared. I put him in the oven until midnight. He's fine now though. No combusting.

The oven? [ He gapes, ] If I were Ingram, I'd be scared my owner was going to cook me!

[ To be fair, if Hei was the owner, he would. ]

It's fireproof! I didn't turn it on.

That's. Different then. [ A sheepish pause. ] I'm guessing Ingram gets terrified of a lot of things, huh?

He's getting better, but I think it's just part of being a rabbit.

They are skittish things. [ As a snake masquerading as a rabbit, he would know. ] Still. Are you, um, sure it's a good idea to keep that egg? What if it's a chimera or something?

Because the Deities have a fetish for the creepy and monstrous.

Smashing might be too drastic. [ No. It wouldn't. ] B-But at least keep it out of your house? Until you've figured out what's in it.

I don't know. It's close to Easter so it could be a chicken, maybe a duck? Possibly a rabbit, but that doesn't make as much sense. It's the City. It could be a resurrected savior of the human race.

I'm afraid you may need to show me what you mean.

[He laughs at the last guess.] You may be right. Nothing would surprise me.

You do seem to work best with demonstrations.

[She tries.] I don't think I want to keep a zombie savior as a pet though.

I am a tactile learner, and you're very good at giving demonstrations. [Pole dancing, sex... yep. Lucy is excellent at teaching by demonstration.]

He would terrify your other pets. Best if you find it a new home, if that's what hatches.

Especially Bryant who is terrified by the bunny.

It depends. Sometimes, they give good presents. Ingram is a great bunny now. He just had to spend that first day in the oven to keep him from setting everything on fire.

And you have no problem with that? I don't think the oven should be the first place you look when you want to feed a pet.

Well he doesn't live there now. it was just for the one day. He no longer bursts into flame. He is a very cute bunny.

Youkai do that if you're human. Humans are the tastiest food.

If you don't want it to eat you, you have to convince it that you're stronger than it.

Who's Ingram and why is he on fire?

That's...creepy to know and I'm pretty sure falls under TMI. At least for me.

He's my bunny. He's not on fire anymore but when I first got him, he burst into flames every time he got scared.

[Uhura stops by the shop on her way home from work.]

Hey Lucy. You picked up one of those up?

Uhura [And Lucy comes around the counter to hug her.] Yeah. I probably should have left it, but...[She finishes her sentence up with a shrug]

[Uhura squeezes the other girl back.] But you just couldn't. [She grins a little.] I hope Chekov hasn't had the same idea.

I don't know. We could arrange playdates then. [Teasing!]

That's assuming they don't destroy everything first.

And I don't think a crate is going to do the job if they're intent on destroying things.

A steel crate, maybe.
