These candies are far too personal, and not something I think we're meant to experience. It's a dirty trick to play on us. [He looks a little irritated, especially since he doesn't know who to blame for it. But then his expression softens to guilt.] I wish I hadn't.... I should have checked the network first.

And I apologize for what you might see or hear to anyone who eats any that might relate to me.

[ooc: You can assume you ate one of Ken's here, or if those are too upsetting? A generic Digimon one with Ken in the digital world with Wormmon is fine, too - labeled DIGIMON. Sorry I didn't think of it earlier.]

A device to travel to other worlds...I've never heard of anything like that--I mean, except for this place...

[The wonder and fascination are obvious in her voice and expression. She'd love to know more.]

I want to see this device!

[Ken puts the black D3 in view of the screen.]

This is it. Unless you want to see it in person? [He's a little uncertain about that, though. It's very important to him, being that it connects him to Wormmon and allows Wormmon to digivolve. He doesn't want anything to happen to it.]

I want to see it up-close. How can something like this let you travel between worlds? That would be incredible...

[She doesn't know how personally important it is to him, of course, but she doesn't plan on being reckless with it. Yet.]

Well.... We could meet and you could. But you have to promise not to take it apart. I have no idea if it will work the same if anyone did that.

I'm not entirely certain how the technology works, myself. But it used to open up gateways through computers to take me to the Digital World. And...another place, once.

[He doesn't want to talk about the other place much.]

If I couldn't put it back together...All right, I won't take it it apart--I promise. [She holds up her pinky finger, though they can't really shake right now.

And then she stares at him in confusion for a few moments.] The...Did you say you went through a computer?

Thank you. [They don't have to shake, a promise is good enough.]

[Nods his head.] Yes. That's how we traveled to the Digital World. I don't know HOW the device does it, though, but I would assume it transferred us into data, which is how we were able to travel like that.

That doesn't explain the other world, though. Unless it's just data, as well.

Wait a second...Turned you into...So are you saying you went into, like--the computer network or something? [She's heavily interested now, imagining just how it worked--she can't wait to see the device, even if she can't take it apart.]

I'm not entirely sure, but yes, something like that. [Gennai explains it better later. So that's the best Ken can do for now.]

There was a whole world there made up data. And...creatures we call Digimon. Some of us had companions given to us. I was one of them. These digital devices connect us to them.

Hmm...So you, the world, and those creatures were all made up of data... [She taps her chin, thinking it through to a conclusion that makes sense to her.]

So it sounds like some big computer program, almost...And these devices--they could've transferred your consciousness...your mind in there as data.

[It's kind of nice to meet someone who understands this so easily.]

Yes. That's the way we think of it, at least. For now, until we come up with something else, or find someone who can tell us exactly what happens.

But that's also part of the reason it's really important to me that nothing happens to the Digivice. Because that's how I get there. And it connects me to my partner, Wormmon. [Well, more like he can't Digivolve without it, they would still be connected, but Ken's not sure he should go into explaining all of that just yet.]

[Rita herself is pleased that she's getting the picture--it's so, so interesting...]

That makes the most sense.

Does it still connect you here? I know you said you couldn't access that world, but...

[His expression saddens.]

I don't know.... Without Wormmon here, I'm not sure.

[Rita watches curiously.]

Your partner? So the data didn't come with you and the device.

Yes, my partner.

[A slight frown.]

He's not just data. He's real. He converts to our world just as easily as I convert to the Digital World, as a solid being.

[And now she's not so certain she understands.]

Wait, so...That means he has to be from your own world, right? I mean, data can't just...turn solid!

No, he's from the Digital World. And he did turn solid.

I know that might not make the most sense, but that's what happened. Those digital monsters, in their world? They're made up of data, yes, but they still live and breathe. They even eat.

What? But--that's impossible! I mean, of course they're alive in their own world, but to turn into an actual physical being in yours...How?

But he did, and so did the other Digimon.

And considering this place, is it really so much more unbelievable than what we go through here?

This place is different! I mean--okay, it doesn't always make sense, but we're still made of matter here.

But when I came here I was attempting to go to the Digital World. And this [he puts the device on screen again] is originally from there.

Well, I sure wasn't trying to go anywhere.

[But the device--she looks at it again, curious all over.] You're certain it came from there?

Yes. It came from the computer screen.

[She almost asks how again, but isntead she runs her hand through her hair.]

I can't imagine how anything like that could happen...I need to see this thing!
