Considering the size and transient nature of the City's population, it's remarkable how much infrastructure there actually is. The subway system is extremely well-maintained and goes everywhere. It reminds me of Tokyo's public transit system in a number of ways, except it's not nearly as clean.
The hospital offers a remarkable array of services -- including psychological. There aren't enough psychologists to handle a city this size, but contrary to popular belief, there are therapists in the City.
And of course, everybody knows about the police force. I've seen people complain that they do nothing, but when you actually monitor the calls that come in to the station, you discover that they are extremely busy. After all, there are at least ten non-network users for every one who posts regularly to the network. It is a big City.
Less well known but equally important is the fire department.
There is even an animal control division! They are small but surprisingly effective. They can bag & tag a stray animal in a matter of seconds, before that animal can even blink.
[tl;dr he got caught by animal control and is currently at the pound. HALP.]
[ooc: Open voice & action for all! If you want to go to the pound and pet the pretty kitty, go for it. :3 Mao will not be leaving the pound with anyone except Hei or Yin.]

I'll pay these conscientious individuals a visit. [ It's like that Fiore Cosmetics mess all over again. ]

I think you're right. There are many things to do in this City -- nightclubs, cafes, plays, bars, even the zoo -- but I doubt the deities would be welcome at any of them considering the curses.

[And this is a talking cat. Mmmk...]
voice;
[fyi, it's not obvious Mao's a talking cat unless you're there in person.]
video;
...Bag and tag...?
Stray animals?
I'll light 'em all on fire if they try to stuff me in a bag!
voice;
I don't know how effective that would be. The cages aren't fire proof, but the man has tranquilizers that he uses. They can knock you out in a matter of seconds.
voice;
I think I can take him on. He's got some dinky chemicals, but I've got fusion fire.
[She holds up her fusion cannon to the view -- it's a big yellow-bronze glowing case over her right arm.]

Re: voice;
voice;
How long have you been able to do this?
voice;
voice;
What are you?
Re: voice;

action;
[He shows her Mao and asks if that's her cat.]
Yes. He's my companion. [The worker looks a little uncomfortable at that - they took in a companion animal. Yeah, you're assholes.] Miss, you really should put your number on his tag, then. Next time I see him, I'll be sure to call you straight away.
[She nods to that, then reaches for Mao as the door to his cage is open.]
action;
Her number isn't on my tag because this collar is just for show. You see, I'm not actually a cat --
[He's pawing at his mouth, trying to get himself to shut up, but it's not working. HALP!]
action; any objection to her taking him to the vet? For new tags and shots? XD
[She gives the worker a nod.]
I'm not sure you should be picking him up if he's hissing.... He might scratch you. Are you sure this is your cat? [The worker looks concerned for Yin, but she's not the least bit fazed.]
[And Yin just gives another nod to his question.]
action; none!
action; We can assume that's exactly what happens later, then, and they can chat while she walks him
[He informs Yin, no, she doesn't. He'll take care of all the paper work and she can leave. With that, she exits the place and pets Mao, gently.]
action; sounds good!
Thank you, Yin.
[He burrows in again before the curse can take hold]
action; sounds good!
There's no need to be concerned. [He can talk if he needs to. Let the curse take it's course.]
action;
What I'm being is cautious. It would break my cover if someone heard me talking and discovered this body, and breaking in a new body would be inconvenient.
action;
They don't seem so easily fazed by talking animals. And I only meant we're out of the pound. You're less likely to be noticed in the crowds.

voice;
[If he sounds sarcastic, it's just because he can't help it. No, really, thank you.]
voice;
[WAIT, CRAP]
You see, back home I was completely addicted to crime shows, but there's no good crime tv here so I like to watch the police force instead.
[CURSE. WHY ARE YOU MAKING HIM A BAD LIAR ON TOP OF EVERYTHING ELSE?!]
voice;
It didn't sound like a casual interest when we were speaking the other day.
