[It hasn't been an easy few weeks for the amnesiac Chiropteran Queen, so she feels entirely justified in ordering a triple-scoop sundae along with her four plates of lunch. Actually, she revises, it's been a hard few months, so she adds a banana split as well.]
[Eating isn't going to help her forget about everything that's been going on, or ease her confusion, or give her past back to her. It won't even nourish her in the way she needs. But at least it's one thing that feels really good.]
[So she's going to sit at this cafe table, by God, and eat until she's done. Though if some friendly person offered to join her, a shoulder to cry on might help a little too...]
((OOC: This post is not backdated but... since I was in the hospital for the Ides of March curse, if anyone wants to backdate a thread for that we can work it out!))

action; Backdated to Ides of March
[If it was locked, he was ringing the doorbell - if there was one - and pounding until he got an answer. This nonsense needed some sort of an end.]
action;
[Saya's barely out of bed, even at this late hour, and thinks nothing of answering the door in her thin chemise -- until, that is, she sees who is on the other side. But even then it's not so much her clothing as her anger that come to the forefront.]
Did you want something? [Her voice is cold steel, sharp and brittle.]
action;
[ Slipping unnoticed out of his room, he's just in time to see Saya open the door to disgorge -- Tch. The Cherub. The curl of annoyance in his belly flares to full-on jealousy. ]
[ Without bothering with tact or discretion (when does he ever?) Karl sneers, ]
What's this then? A late night tryst gone awry?
action;
You're being stupid, and we need to talk.
action; tag order Saya > Karl > Setsuna?
[She turns to Setsuna with an arch expression. Stupid, is she? That's not likely to get her talking to you.]
action; tag order Saya > Karl > Setsuna?
What's he doing here in the first place? [ An edge of disdain. ] Did the two little lovebirds have a fight? Has he come to kiss and make up?
action;
[And, looking right past Karl to address Saya.]
Saya, you're ignoring me over a curse. [Definitely not love birds.]
action;
[And to Setsuna, who she figures is here to... what? Make his point yet again about how he doesn't feel about her? She's sick of it.] Oh, you were cursed to dismiss my feelings entirely? That's a terribly specific one. Too bad you don't seem to be over it.
[It wasn't so much his cuddling on camera that got to her, but the way he was so casual and glib about how it was just dandy to him that it hurt her.]
action;
[ Not lovebirds. But it's too personal to be a fight between friends. He knows how to spot the difference. While ordinarily this would amuse him, pay tribute to the spectator in his nature, he feels too leery of that whiff of broken intimacy in the air. ]
[ Ignoring Setsuna, he crooks an eyebrow at Saya, ] What did he do to you? [ He sounds more bemused than concerned, much less protective. ]
action;
I didn't care much about anyone else's feelings. I acted like...when I was first together with Sara.
[At this point, he completely ignores Karl. Karl's going to stay, ask questions and give commentary no matter what. Best to just not give that the time of day, not right now.]
action;
[She stares at Setsuna, unimpressed.] If this is your try at an apology, it's a bad one.
action;
[ How can he not? He'd adore driving a wedge between Saya and the Cherub. ]
[ Then she'd be all mine. Or at least as much mine as she gets. ]
[ At Saya's last remark, he snorts, gaze bouncing off Setsuna's earnest little face. ] She's right, Set-chan. Don't you know how to apologize to a woman, you pint-sized homunculus?
action;
[Setsuna looked mostly confused, for a moment, then blinked and sighed.] Apologize? For being cursed? I might as well apologize for being sixteen.
I came here to clear things up, and to let you know this time, I'm moving on, but without a curse in place. And there's no engagement or anything of the sort, but I didn't want you to find out like that again, not for the real thing.
A lot of stuff's come up this week. I thought maybe we could be more than friends, but I don't think so anymore. I still want to be friends, though.
[Then he turned to Karl, finally giving him notice.] What the hell? I'm tall for being Japanese, and I'm almost as tall as you are!
action; /the latest
I know! I get it! I've told you I get it! So you didn't really come here for me at all, did you? You came here for your own benefit, because YOU wanted some closure, YOU wanted not to feel guilty.
Well, hell if I'm going to help you do that!
[Only when she spins on her heel does she remember Karl's standing there, so he can have a little outburst of his very own.] You wanted me all alone and now you have it. Congratulations.
[With that, she leaves the door swinging and stalks off into the house.]
action <3
[ Since when does she read minds? ]
[ But he can't get the words out. She's already stomped away, the air almost boiling in her wake. ]
[ After a beat, he mutters, not so much to Setsuna as to himself, ] I suppose it's true. [ A shake of the head. ] Madness runs in the family.
action
Whatever it is, Karl, enjoy it. I'm out.

That must have been some meal.
no subject
Do you want some? I was thinking of having another parfait.

[She makes a motion at the table.] I was going to order something in chocolate. I haven't had chocolate in weeks. Would you mind me joining you?

I'm happy to run into you this way. It must be by grace of the Gods. Have you been doing well?

[She makes some effort to smile because Toul is really nice, and Saya could use a friend who doesn't end up making her feel awful in the end.] This place is kind of hard. But I don't really know if other places are any easier...
At least the food's really good. [And Diva's associates take care of the bills.]
no subject
That's right! The food is delicious. It's very different from what I am used to back home. Especially the sweets. I hadn't realized there could be so many flavors of ice cream or toppings.

Ah...well, back home I'd only ever had chocolate, strawberry and vanilla. And then fruits are great for toppings. My town is rather small in comparison to some of the big cities. Ice cream is a specialty.

[When you're home is more akin to what someone might find in the early 19th century, a lot of things are novelties and special in comparison to others. And oh look here's the peanut butter! She takes it from the waitress and proceeds to put spoonfuls of it on top of her sundae.]
It really seems like sweets are more abundant in general here. It makes me want to learn to make them all.
action;
Hey Saya. Mind if I join you and your friends?
[She's assuming Saya's eating with friends. She's got four plates, after all.]
action;
I'm not... with anyone else, though. [That pause is both for embarrassment over her appetite, and for the obvious connotation of being alone.]
action;
I see what you meant before about the hollow leg.
action;
action;
You eat like my little cousin Xiluva. [Except Xi could only eat maybe a quarter of this.]
action;
action;
Maybe that's the reason. If you're not eating food that nourishes you, you're going to remain hungry.
[Action]
[Don't mind the overly-friendly tiny girl who just hopped up to sit next to you.] Nothing's better, huh? Pinoko loves chocolate parfaits!
[She's brought her own dessert over to eat, so it seems like she intends to stay.]
[Action]
[Action]
Have you been here long, Mish?
[Action]
[Action]
Ah, the icecream's melting... [She abandons her train of thought to resume eating, very quickly.]
[Action]
I guess it is... [She's wondering how old this young lady is, but that only makes her wonder how old she is.]
[Action]
Pinoko likesh iche cream even on cold days, but it's kinda funny sheeing shomeone elshe enjoy it too! [She smiles happily at Saya around her spoon.]
Ah, by the way, Mish, what's your name?
[ action ]
dessertlunch and he most certainly had not expected to run into the one and only elusive Saya Otonashi. Especially not after all this time. ]So are you eating for one or expecting twins?
[ He's trying to make a joke as he joins her, because he's seen her eating habits. But even so, that pile of desserts is getting excessive. ]
[ action ]
Very funny. [She plunks her spoon back down in a bit of a sulk, though she doesn't really mean it. Arthur's a nice person, not like the people she's been hanging out with lately.]
