I've been here more than two years. I really should know better than to eat something like that especially without checking the network first.

It's a little overwhelming to see and feel other people's memories that way. And very...invasive. So, I'm sorry for that.

I suppose it's a little late to say so, but be careful around the candy hearts.

Oh, and, with Lenalee gone now it's only my dog, Tumbles, and myself in this apartment. I don't think I like living alone very much. I have two bedrooms if anyone else is interested.

[As promised, Derek arrives about twenty minutes later, give or take a few minutes. He has in one hand a box of chocolate chip cookies that he'd decided to bring along at the last minute. But he was feeling like he needed something sweet. When he knocked, he could hear Tumbles at the door and that made him smile. He really did miss having a dog around.

After Euphie opens the door, he wraps his arms around her in a hug.] Hey there, Euphie girl.

[She's glad for the hug which she would have initiated herself otherwise.] It's so good to see you. [Tumbles waits patiently—more or less—for attention, staring up happily at the two figures.] It should happen more often.

We should definitely make it a regular date. [Another tight squeeze and then he lets go to pull back and hold out the warm box of fresh cookies he'd picked up from the bakery.] Thought we might need something sweet. [Okay, so he'd wanted something sweet but had used the visit as an excuse to get it. But now he's gonna lean over and scratch at Tumbles's ears.] My dog back home used to like a good ear scratch.

My favorite. Simple and delicious. [She takes the box to put on the table so Tumbles can get more affection.] He does too. Really, he seems to love any kind of petting or attention.

How was your day? Did you eat any of the hearts?

[After a few more moments of petting Tumbles, he stands upright and follows her further into her apartment.]

Yeah it is. I'm kind of private about most things. Don't like the idea of parts of me being laid out there for anyone to see.

This is a more than difficult place to keep secrets. I think the City delights in showing our pasts to others. Especially the parts we'd rather keep to ourselves.

It's like the City gets off on it. [Derek agrees, nodding as Tumbles climbs up onto the couch and curls up next to him with his head in Derek's lap. He isn't really sure that the dog is supposed to be up here but Derek doesn't mind.]

[Such language, Derek. She brings him his glass and a few of the cookies on a plate. She doesn't seem to mind Tumbles on the couch as she takes a seat nearby on the chair.]

If someone wanted to spend the time I think they could learn everything about me by just reading back through on the network.

[It just slipped out, okay? He's barely even noticed he spoke like that in front of Euphie. But then again he is pretty comfortable around her. She probably knows more about him than anyone else in the City does.]

I hope no one has the time for that kind of thing. Honestly I'd rather sit and have chocolate chip cookies with a good friend than delve into someone else's past without a good reason.

It would take forever. Unless maybe you were Reid. [She had known him fairly well after all.] I've been here over two years and I know some people who have been here six. Not to mention everything would be scattered around.

[At the mention of Reid, a look of sadness crosses over Derek's face. He quickly covers it up with a smirk and a nod though because she is, after all, right.] So have you ever had a repeat after being here for so long? With memories, I mean. You ever have a repeat reveal to the City?

Well...

Not with the curse that plays memories for people, but I have had the same memory tapped into several times. I suppose I do think about it a lot though.
