[His tone is not as chipper as usual. Two parts a little melancholy, a part frustration.]

( She holds him tighter, nodding. ) So why make yourself suffer, hm? Seems pointless to me.

( The entire news about Sara is shocking. She feels sickened to think of Setsuna trying to deal with that on his own. )

You went so far for her. ( Her brow furrows. ) If that's how she feels, you are better off apart.

I.... I didn't want to be rejected again. I'm not really ready for that. [He feels like he'll suffer either way. This way was easier, for a while.]

[He shakes his head.] I didn't do those things for her to love me. I did them because I love her. Whatever her feelings.

He wouldn't reject you. ( At least, she doesn't think he would. ) But don't expect for him to make it easy for you. ( They are talking about Lucifer here. ) That isn't in his nature.

( Or their's, really. )

I know. Still, I wish your love was returned at the end.

He doesn't make anything easy, I know. [Setsuna had, more or less, expected that. And Kira, sort of, knows, now.]

[As for Sara, Setsuna's bottom lip quivers, before he tightly hugs Alexiel, then exhales.] It was, back home. [He's frightened it might not weather time, not any longer.] But for right now, this is how things are, I guess.

Hatter might be right, and that maybe I should make something of the time I have, instead of waiting around to find out if I'll be here for four, or six years, like some.

No, he doesn't. ( She says that almost fondly. There will never be a time that she doesn't enjoy a nice chase or even a nice fight. It's too ingrained in her nature. )

Setsuna... ( Her arms enclose around him, one hand finding the back of his head and stroking over his hair. )

This city isn't home. What happens here may or may not affect your home. I don't know for sure.

( Regardless, she's not going to let him stay this upset. )

I think Hatter is right about that. All the same, don't do anything you will regret. ( She gives him a small, encouraging smile. )

[He loves challenges and chases himself, but this particular area is a raw wound. Any of Kira's usual might rub it to bleeding all over again.]

[But Alexiel's hand, he leans his head into, calming.]

It doesn't really seem to affect home. Everything was the same when I returned. [Except, now, he wonders about a lot.]

I won't. That's why I hadn't said anything yet. There's still the matter of Saya, too.

( Which is why he should probably wait until he's feeling better. She doesn't want to have to beat up Kira for being a jerk. )

Good. Let's assume it will stay that way. ( It's probably easier for her to not worry overly much about their home world. ) You can talk to me any time about it.

( Oh. Saya. ) She's a vampire, isn't she? How close are you to her?

[He will. Aside from that, he's just as likely to punch Kira for saying the wrong thing. And there's Saya.]

It will. [It's not this place affecting home he's concerned about. It's the affect of time on Sara's feelings and what his future might have in store for him. He'll face it, of course, but he'd be lying if said he wasn't anxious about it.] Thanks.

And, yeah, kinda. They're called chiropteran, the same kind of vampire Karl is. And I don't know how close we can be when she doesn't have her memories. She doesn't remember anything from the time before she woke up here. She just has dreams about stuff that might be from her past.

Karl says if she was herself she wouldn't care much for me, too. So I don't even know if this is the real her, or what she's normally like. I don't know much about her, at all.

But I like her. [That was definite, with no hesitation. It could never be what he felt for Sara, and likely couldn't reach whatever his tangled mess for Kira was, but there was something there that went beyond simple friendship.]

( Exhaling, Alexiel puts her hands in her pockets and looks over the buildings surrounding them. )

You and I are alike when it comes to liking complicated relationships. ( That is said without affection or a smile. He's doomed to heart-ache and she hates that for his sake. ) I'd bide my time if I were you. Over time, you will see how many sides she actually has. Then you can make a better decision.

In the mean time, if she returns your feelings, what's stopping you from enjoying something new with her?

[He knows what he faces, and yet that isn't the important part to him.]

[He frowns a little, having thought it was obvious.] Kira. I don't know what I feel in full for either of them, and if it's Kira I care for more, then I'm doing her a disservice. Aside from that, she wants what I can't give her. My whole heart. That will always belong, in full, to Sara. I can't change that.

I don't expect her to be okay with that, either. She understands, but it makes her sad.

( A bitter smile crosses her lips. She bows her head. )

Lucifer... Kira... understands that about me. You should be honest with her. Let her make the next decision.

( She glances at him. ) Sadness can't be avoided.

She knows. I told her.

She even knows about Kira.

[He looks away.] She just won't talk to me, now.

Then give her time. ( She rests a hand on top of his head. ) I can't imagine her not speaking to you ever again.

I don't know about that. [He really doesn't. With her, it's hard to tell sometimes.]

She believes something that isn't true.

What does she believe?

I was cursed to engage myself to Hatter over the weekend. [The things that happen in curses. Bizarre. Setsuna looks pretty upset over the results, though.]

She thinks it was real.

She should know about curses. ( And if she doesn't, she's a fool in Alexiel's mind. )

She does, but I think she didn't realize that's what this was.

I don't how you can make that clear.

Neither do I.

I'm gonna go out to Diva's tomorrow if she doesn't respond by then.

That's all you can do.

Yeah. I'll...deal with everything else as it comes, I think.

[A pause as he settles on the roof.]

And, Alexiel.

( She nods in agreement before sitting down beside him. )

Hatter's been listening to me, but I don't always get her. It made a difference, talking to you.

Mm Hatter has nir own view of love and relationships. ( It's not like nir's opinion should be dismissed, but in Setsuna's case, she understands where he's coming from a little better. )

I'll be here for you as long as I can.
