[The day started warm and beautiful and Bobby was out of her bed as soon as the sun was up. After months of winter, being able to go outside again feels like walking back into her own skin.

She's currently sprawled out across the grass in front of the new Xavier mansion, soaking in the sun like a lizard on a rock. She's in shorts and a t-shirt and it might still be a little chilly for that, but she doesn't mind. Besides, someone comes along soon to offer a little extra warmth.

A very wooly sheep wanders into frame and pokes at Bobby with its black muzzle. Bobby lets out a giggle, and another sheep comes to investigate.

Does anyone know how you get the wool off the sheep so you can make sweaters? I know how to knit but it has to be in yarn first and this doesn't look very much like yarn yet.

[She gives the nearest sheep a pat on her curly coat.]

I think they need to get shaved. I looked up how to make yarn, but I didn't read past carding.

We have pink sheep.

Nope! It's like giving them a haircut!

Oh. I'll ask Mr. Xavier if we have any clippers.

Be careful? If they move, they might get hurt.

I believe you have to spin the wool first. Any peasant should be able to tell you how. I can put you in touch with Merlin if you like.

[ what? Merlin's the only peasant he knows. ]

Does he make wool a lot?

[pratful]

I don't know. I don't usually pay attention to what he does. He's a servant.

[ no, the answer is probably no ]

You must pay some attention or you wouldn't even know who he is. Why do you even have a servant?

Because it comes with the rank. Every prince is supposed to have a manservant. I just had the unfortunate luck of getting Merlin.

[ Charles doesn't actually see the network post, but he hears Bobby's giggling and a few questioning noises from sheep so he comes to see what's going on, sitting down next to her and immediately getting a sheep entirely too curious in his hair. Literally. ]

Glad to see you're so excited for the move.

I'm mostly glad it's not cold out anymore. That lasted waaaaaaay too long.

[unwheeled]

Though spring could well mean an influx of rain, you know. [ Poking her in her side. ]

[horseish]

[Swatting his hand away stop iiiiiiiit.]

It's okay, I like rain.

[unwheeled]

[ Ffs, what? Never. Prepare to be tickled, Bobby. ]

It can get cold, however. Depends on the wind.

Nooo don't!

[She's laughing even as legs randomly lash out at the assault. WHY DO PEOPLE KEEP FEELING THE NEED TO TICKLE HER. Especially Charles people.]

[ Because Bobby is adorable, clearly.

Though Charles can't keep it up for long before there's grass in his hair and then there's another sheep in his hair so he has to stop in order to wave it off. ]

Did you choose your room yet?

[You are her least favourite right now, seriously.]

Can I chose any of them?

I think you can have any of the ones on the second floor. There are two open rooms on the third floor, with Raven, Erik and I.

[horseish]

How'd you get such a big house, anyway? It must have been lots and lots of money.

[unwheeled]

[ Charles stretches out next to her and sticks his hands under his head. ]

I inherited it. Well. Raven and I inherited it.

[horseish]

Were your parents really rich?

[Because that just seems unfair, she doesn't like rich people being nice it makes them harder to resent.]

I suppose they were. [ Charles supposes nothing, but he has opinions on the subject of money. ] But it had been in the family for...a very long time. Eight generations.

[horseish]

You're lucky no one sold it. When we were living in the camp ground lots of people talked about having to sell houses for the money and a big house would get you lots of money I bet.

[One of the sheep decides to sit down next to them after finding a particularly juicy looking dandelion patch, and Bobby gets up on her knees to pet it again.]

[unwheeled]

It probably would. But what would I do with a lot of money. [ Charles sits up and shrugs. ] It's useful now, because people can live in it. There are enough people, I mean. When I was growing up...this was all rather empty.

[ And now there's Erik, and Raven, and Sean, and Bobby, and possibly Stiles. And sheep.

A veritable ton of sheep. ]

I suppose we should figure out where the sheep should stay at night.

[horseish]

You could buy a car. That's what I'd do if I had a lot of money.

They like to sleep outside, don't they?

[unwheeled]

I think I would rather have a bicycle. I could always borrow someone else's vehicle.

Well yes, but I suspect like most other things, they aren't terribly fond of being rained on.

[horseish]

I've never been on a bicycle. Are they scary?

Oh. It's too bad your house doesn't have a barn.

[unwheeled]

They're only scary at first. I'll teach you, how does that sound?

[ Charles shrugs. ] I suspect I'll just have to have someone build one. Or whatever sheep would prefer. Clearly I should call a veterinarian before the next week is out.

[horseish]

That's an animal doctor, right? I thought there was just one kind of doctor for both but the doctor I knew back home said he didn't do horses.

[unwheeled]

No, there's...a doctor for just about everything you can think of, to be quite honest.
