First Psalm [Video]

This is not the Apocalypse I expected. Where are the angels? Where is the flaming sword? Where is the pit of fire? I'm a bit relieved...I haven't been to Mass in too long. Except for today, of course, but it does not truly count if you are not going to Confession for the sake of your own soul.

[Lia is sitting there, blonde hair slightly mussed. Her fingers are wrapped in the rosary around her neck and she looks around, worry clear on her features.]

I do not know this place or how I arrived here. I was...is this an afterlife? I have no guide, only this strange device. It seems this is my connection to others?

[She licks her lower lip, worrying it uncertainly between her teeth before glancing up. Her expression is almost pleading as it occurs to her that she might simply be talking to herself and hoping.]

...I tried to be a pious woman. Truly.

[But there's a bit of doubt in her voice.]

[It doesn't take long. In a moment, a pair of large, feathery white wings erupts from his back, taking up most of the screen.]

[Her hands fly up to cover her mouth and she stares at him, eyes wide and tears slowly filling them. The wings are proof and if he's an angel and she's here...]

Did I die? Are you here to collect me? I...did not think Raphael did that. Only Gabriel...

[Tears were hardly the reaction he expected. He looks at her, confused and a little concerned, now, letting the wings dematerialize as quickly as they'd appeared.]

No! You're not dead. I apologize, I... Gabriel did all that?

Gabriel calls for souls...not...not the Gabriel here I thought.

[Give her a minute. It's been a day. She sucks in a few cleansing breaths, plastering on her best Court smile.]

I would still...if you could show me around, please.

[A tiny grin plays on his face at the thought.]

If she did, she'd have been a lot busier than I recall.

[pause]

Are you sure? I didn't mean to upset you.

How many angels are there here?

[She swallows, and lifts her head, firmly.]

I am certain, monsieur. Forgive my outburst. It has simply been an extremely trying day.

Four. Myself, Gabriel, Michael, and the-- Setsuna, I suppose.

[Raphael seriously debates whether he counts.]

But there's no need to worry about them. They won't do you any harm. And please, call me Raphael.

[an attempt at a reassuring, sheepish look]

I'll get the tour off to a better start than this, I promise. Where are you, my dear?

Why so many? And three Archangels?

[She sighs. It's not like the situation is going to improve, but at least she doesn't think she has to be afraid.]

There is a carousel in front of me.

You're more familiar than most. I'm not sure myself, I suppose this place has strange whims.
