Hello, visitors! I hope you're all having a good time in the City and finding plenty of interesting people to talk to. If this is your first time here, try not to worry too much. You'll get to go back home soon and it'll be like you were never gone.

If you need anything at all, feel free to swing by the Welcome Center. We've got coats and warm clothes if you aren't dressed for the weather or if you ended up in the fountain and food for anyone who's hungry--courtesy of the Blue Light, so make sure you visit there because it's an amazing place. I'm so sorry that we couldn't find beds for everyone who was asking last night; that'll be something to work on for the next time this happens.

But like I said, if you need anything, stop by or give me a shout here. My name's Penny and I'll do what I can to help out and answer your questions.

And if we've met before, I'd really appreciate it if you'd take a moment to say hello.

[The Welcome Center is only a block or so off of the main square, clearly marked by a big blue sign. Penny isn't the only one working, but she'd be more than happy to lend a hand where it's needed.]

That bit about falling into the fountain, I'm afraid, is entirely applicable. Have you still any warm clothes, or have all the other reluctant new arrivals gotten ahold of them first?

There're plenty of clothes to go around. If you want to come by, we can see if there's anything that'll fit you.

I'll be right along, then. I shouldn't like to continue standing out here in this weather.

[And several minutes later he makes his way into the Welcome Center, his manner of attire, drenched though it may be, marking him quite evidently as someone not from this time.]

[The redhead approaches him with a towel and a smile as soon as he enters.]

Hey! Welcome to the City. Sorry about the fountain.

Well, it's hardly your fault, is it, unless you put that dreadful fountain there, in which case, I shall begin blaming you at once.

[He gives her a smile, too.]

I guess I can't take the blame for that one. That's on the deities.

The deities? Are you saying God put that fountain there for the sole purpose of humiliating new visitors?

Oh--sorry! Not that deity, but the people who run this place. They're called the deities. I don't know what they really are, but yeah, that's pretty much the fountain's purpose.

Oh, good. I was beginning to think I might have died and gone to Hell, and I was wondering about the considerable lack of fire and brimstone.

I can't clear up the death thing for you. This isn't hell, though. I mean, it can get strange sometimes, but it's not all that bad.

[She gestures towards a small closet. From what can be seen through the half-open door, it's full of boxes of clothes. Nothing glamorous, but dry is dry.] Help yourself, okay?

[He looks into the closet.]

Thank you. I very much appreciate it. I suppose I shouldn't ask how it gets "strange" around here, should I?

It's really no problem.

You can ask if you want, but I'm not sure you'd believe me. I don't believe me half the time.

[He's rummaging through the box of clothes as he responds.]

Well, try me. I can believe in some very ridiculous things, I assure you.

[There's nothing fancy in there, but the clothes are all clean.]

If you can believe me when I say that we had a zombie attack, then I really worry about the world you come from.

I'd rather not believe you, but I don't suppose I have much choice.

Well, I can't really prove the zombie thing to you, so you don't need to believe me.

Ah, I suppose so, but I've already been dragged into a mysterious city against my will, so how out of the ordinary can zombies be, really?

They don't pop up as often as you might think, so I'd still say they're out of the ordinary.
