Seems to happen every few months or so and better than some of the things that go on.

[ He doesn't take very long, and soon enough he's strolling up to the fountain, leather jacket and a bag thrown over his shoulder. He didn't really arrive with much.

Giving her a smile when he sees her. ] Hey. Not too late, am I?

Luckily for you, no. But any longer and I'd have been gone. [She's smiling as she says it though, clearly teasing.]

So, Mr. Severide, anything interesting you've already heard about you want to check out first?

[ Here's hoping that he's not going to be stuck here; or that the City needs a firefighter. ]

Just Severide's good, really. [ Well. He likes a girl who teases? ] I've only heard about the monsters in the underground.

[There is a mischievous god of chaos around that likes fire that nearly set the place ablaze not long ago.

And her teasing isn't always so easy to tell.]

[ That does not sound good. Though at least he'd have job prospects, here? ]

Just that there's monsters, not what kind.

You'll find plenty of them here depending on your definition. [And she's going to be watching him for the reaction to this part in particular.] Vampires, werewolves, zombies and others. Then there are those creatures that even they consider monsters.

[ First someone tells him about monsters, then someone tells him about walking corpses, now this. Either everyone here is psychotic or it's one giant prank. ]

[Considering he's talking to a vampire hybrid, she's quite serious. Hell, she was surprised by some of the things in this place.]

I know it's hard to believe, but this place is like a giant sci-fi mashup. People are here from different worlds and different times. But come on, we'll head down and you'll see.

[Just going to be heading to the nearest entrance to the Underground now.]

[Laughing at that since there are so many who would disagree with him.] You haven't seen me at work.

Vampire. Not the Hollywood version, though and from what I've been told unusual everywhere else as well.

When I need them. Which isn't for human blood.

So what do you need them for? [ Look, you told him this much. That's as good as an invitation to ask for more information, right? ]

My kind feed from each other, or rather the opposite sex. [Bad reaction from someone once before means she tries not to hide things when they might be important. If he has questions, as long as they don't get too personal, she won't mind.]

[ Mulling that over in his mind. He's got nothing against strong women and he's pretty secure in his masculinity, thank you very much.

Besides, he's not entirely convinced that there's really monsters. Willing to be proven wrong on that count, though, and it'd be good not to die if it's really true. ] Right on. Big guys, then.

[No offense but he is only human and that bit she didn't actually tell him about gives her an even bigger edge over the monsters than her vampire side. Plus she has a pair of blades on her if needed.]
