You know, I don't think I've had these since I was in sixth grade. Remember the Valentine's Day parties they'd make you have in elementary school? I was always more excited to make the box for the valentines than for the rest of it, though sometimes the candy was okay. Halloween was better for it.

[ Ariadne pauses, frowning at the small pile of candies she's gathered. ]

Well, these aren't normal, anyway. As usual, considering the City. I wonder how many misunderstandings these will lead to.

Yeah, Valentine's Day. February 14th. It's all about love. The candy hearts usually have things like "Be Mine" or "Kiss Me" on them instead of... what's on them now.

Yeah. I knew about the, you know, romance and stuff. But that kiss me stuff is pretty different! I mean, we usually just get the mistletoe for kissing stuff.

Well, it doesn't actually make people kiss each other.

Well, yeah, I guess if normal mistletoe doesn't make people kiss each other, the candies wouldn't either.

So, what's the point of the candies anyway?

I think most people just eat them, but they aren't the best tasting thing ever.

It's just kind of amusing, I guess. I mean, I'm sure some people give them specifically based on what's written on them, but most don't.

Well, I've had the cursed ones. They're kind of terrible, though.

I wish I could blame the taste on the curse, but they always taste that way.
