[Video feed kicks on and it shows Charlie. Upside down since it probably turned on when she set it down and she doesn't quite realize it but that's okay. Hypnos the cat has solved the problem by sniffing the device and knocking it to the floor. Charlie picks it up, notices it's recording and rolls her eyes slightly. She looks a bit anxious today. There's a reason for it and she almost looks like she wants to say something but she switches the device off.

It's back on a while later, pointed at a stack of candy hearts.]


So...these are falling outside. I'm not sure what made me think to eat some since this is the City. Weird shit happens often. Blame parts of breakfast turning into sand. [An annoyed sigh and the camera spins slightly to face Charlie. Her hand is visible for a brief second. They're taped up and there is a brief shot of a punching bag behind her.] Be very careful what you eat today, guys. For many reasons.

[And the feed is off again.]

Festive in a very twisted way. I've never liked Valentine's Day.

Same here, Doctor. Very over-rated. I mean, why just the one stupid day to tell people you care? It should be a daily thing, if you're lucky enough.

Never been much of a romantic. [ That he'll admit to. ] But the City seems to like twisting holidays around to upset people.

[charring]

It doesn't have to be romantic, though. Just little things. Grand, sweeping gestures are okay on occasion, but little things like remembering someone's favorite movie and renting it or surprising them with making dinner or something.

This holiday, though. Dumbest thing ever.

The domestic thing. I'm not any good at that either.

What are you doing eating candies from the sky for a holiday you don't like?

[charring]

My breakfast turned to sand, as did most of my replacement breakfast.

[leathered]

And of course the candies didn't. Not that that's anything near a good meal.

Bad memories in these. [ He'll be close-lipped about the ones he got, mostly because I didn't bother to actually borrow anyone's officially. ]

[charring]

I know. Some people I know got a few of mine. I got a few from others. There was maybe one I really liked.

[leathered]

Better not be little Doctor candies out there, or I'm not going to be happy.

You all right, though?

[charring]

Not really. The City likes shoving my past in people's faces and I feel like it leaves me on clean-up crew afterwards. I tend to lose friends when this happens.

[leathered]

You'd think you could walk away from your past a bit in a place like this, where we're mostly strangers. I haven't had any luck either. 'Course, I'm stuck looking at my future too.

[charring]

Right? As many opportunities as I have here, I still get reminded. Not that I want to forget entirely. I just don't want to have to worry.

Is your future alright, Doctor?

Gotta go back sometime. This is just a pause, a little eddy in the timestream.

Bit full of bad haircuts, but I suppose it's not terrible.
