[For the better part of the morning, Jinora is out chasing what looks like a fist-sized, heart-shaped balloon. It doesn't have a string, of course, because it is her heart. This makes it all the more difficult to catch the yellow heart every time it decides to drift away from its owner.

The young airbender is quick on her feet and even faster once she's off the ground, sending snow flying as she propels herself from the ground to the rooftops. She's trying not to get in anyone's way, but such things are virtually inevitable when you're chasing your wayward heart.]

You're mine! Aren't you supposed to listen to me?

[Every time the girl gets close to the heart, it takes off in a different direction, sometimes bobbing near the ground, occasionally spiraling up into the sky. At this rate, she's going to have to go home and get her air glider...]


[ooc: Pretend this was up earlier in the day? Action only; please feel free to have your character run into Jinora and/or her heart!]

[With her air glider. That heart can't stay away forever.]

[When Jinora does come back, Tohru will have it somewhat between two buildings, thinking she has it cornered.]

You have to stay here, heart. Jinora needs you!

[The heart actually stays put, hovering just out of reach. It's clearly trolling.

At least until Jinora comes swooping in on her glider, but the girl is too quick for the runaway heart. She lets go of her glider, grabs the heart, and--with the help of a little airbending--sticks the landing. The glider folds up on itself and clatters to the ground in a far less graceful manner.]

That was no problem! But you, you look amazing.

You really did look like you were flying!

It's not that amazing. Ikki and Meelo can both do that, too, and they're younger than me.

But, it is to me. I've never seen anything like it before. Not outside of television or movies. [And she barely watches those.]

Then thank you. It doesn't seem like anything special at home...

It seems very special to me, but I'm sorry if my words are weird.

I don't know what it's like for you back home. You should tell me about your world sometime.

No, it's nice! It's just different.

I'll tell you anything you want to know.

[Bright smile.] I want to know everything! But that might be difficult to cover all at once, and hard to decide where to start.

So, when you feel up to it, maybe you could explain the bending thing? I don't understand how it works.

After my heart stops running away, I can do that. I don't know as much as my dad, but I know a lot.

[riceballfruit]

Okay!

And maybe I can help you catch your heart? [Tohru gives it a look at that, studying it. Surely it wants to stay with them, right?]

If it escapes again. [She's not about to let it go to see if it drifts off.] Do you think the hearts mean something, Tohru?

[riceballfruit]

[She's caught off guard, at first, and she's about to protest, she doesn't know much, after all. But she stops, her expression warming.]

If you heart could take on a life outside of you, it would likely be light and playful, wouldn't it?

I don't know if I'm that playful. [But she does smile.] But air is the element of freedom.

What would your heart mean?

[riceballfruit]

Then maybe that's it?

[She looks caught off guard and surprised for a moment.] Ah, I don't know. I never...thought about that. [And even thinking about it, she's not really sure.] Maybe a riceball shaped into a heart?

[bookbending]

That sounds dangerous. I'd be afraid it would get eaten.

[riceballfruit]

But it might taste bad! So maybe people wouldn't eat it. [This is Tohru's way of turning it around.]

[bookbending]

But they'd have to bite into it to taste it.

[She's just worried about you, Tohru.]

[riceballfruit]

But if it tasted bad after they started, then they would stop, and my heart would be safe!

[bookbending]

I think I'll just be happy that your heart isn't being eaten.

[riceballfruit]

Okay! I'm happy my heart isn't being eaten, too.

[She might as well admit that part.]
