She's pulling a hairbrush through her hair with some difficulty.

Suddenly, she sees the blinking red light that means the device is recording and drops the hairbrush to run over and grab it.]

My mom's Peurto Rican and I'm an only child. [So that's a no, but he sits down.] What are twists?

Just what they sound like. You take little sections of your hair, and you just give it a little twist. Like this.

[She takes a small lock of hair near the front of Miles' head and twists it. It takes about 10 seconds.]

It's a simple style, but it looks really cute.

What's different about black girl hair?

It's all thick and nappy. Do they not have black people in your world either?

I don't know. Everyone on Air Temple Island is almost the same color as me, except for Korra.

And you both are pretty Asian-looking. Or at least what they call Asian where I'm from. I'm guessing you don't have an Asia.

No, I never heard of Asia. I looked at some maps in the library... we don't have the same continents other places have.

Why did you call yourself black? You're brown.

I dunno, that's just what they call people from Africa. People whose families come from Europe are white, and pretty much everyone else is named after where they come from, like Asian, Mexican, Indian. All the people from Spanish speaking countries that aren't Spain are called Latino. I'm half black and half Latino 'cause my mom's family came from Puerto Rico.

Oh! It's like Gran-gran's Water Tribe because she was born at the South Pole and Avatar Aang was an Air Nomad because he was from the Southern Air Temple! I'm different things, too, now that the nations aren't at war anymore.
