[The more central wards, the most secured portion of the hospital, are where the majority of patients and staff alike have been holed up for the duration of the infection. Of course, not everything they need is there, and that necessitates the occasional trip to the hospital's outer areas for a few things.

Which doesn't seem like that much of an issue; they've had a few incidents, but the hospital has been largely safe. So, cautiously, Wilson is heading down to get a few things.

He didn't count on running into a ghoul again - one that's coming specifically for him. As soon as he exits door from the stairwell onto the lower floor he's heading for, it sets upon him. His device is thrown to the ground, which is when the video switches on.

On the network, you'll see an angle from the floor upward, as Wilson struggles to push the ghoul back and off of him. The ghoul is clawing and gnashing at him, pressing forward until it manages to shove them both back through the doorway into the stairwell.

The door closes, and after a few moments, the video times out.]

[The worst aspect of crises like this is being able to see things on the network without being capable of doing anything about them. Now that she has had time to rest (was forced to rest, rather, but she wasn't being that helpful when she was delirious), Penny is doing rather well. She's so well, in fact, that she wants to run out and find Wilson as soon as his video is up.

Penny doesn't do that. She doesn't know her way around the hospital that well, and what would she be able to do against a ghoul? She can, however, post a frantic message and hope that Wilson responds.]

James? James, please answer, okay? If you can?

[Wow, exciting.]

Did you get it?

[It's good that she doesn't, because he would really rather she not be wandering around outside of the more secure areas, especially with what he's just been through. Some time has passed since the initial post, and he sounds rather ragged.

No video from his end, either.]

Penny... I'm here. I'm okay.

[Or at least he will be, which is what's important.]

[It was definitely exciting... though not in such a good way from his angle.]

Yes.

[Not that he's all that happy about it.]

I got him.

[She sees what you did thar, Wilson.]

Oh, geez... you have no idea how great it is to hear from you. What happened? [Besides the obvious.] You're not completely okay, are you? Do you need help?

[He'd rather she see what he did than see him, at the moment.]

He... he's gone now. He fell.

[He checked this time, as hard as it was to do it. He might know, on some intellectual level, that it's not really his brother, but that doesn't do much to calm the emotional response. There's a heaviness to his pause there, because of it.]

It's all right. I'm more than okay enough to get back upstairs.

And you're really okay?

[Duh, no. Fighting off something that looks like someone you care about and wants to eat you does not make a person okay in any way at all. Right now, though, physical okay-ness is more pressing.]

Good. I got mine, too. Did you get bit?

[No, he's not really okay, not in the most fundamental meaning of the word. But he needs to focus on getting back to safety and having his injuries properly looked after.]

Yeah... I'm on my way back up, I just-- I'll stop in with one of the other doctors first.

[Penny realizes she's probably not going to get much more out of him; he probably doesn't want her to worry. That might annoy her a little if she wouldn't do the same thing.]

Okay. Whenever, just... I mean, I'll be around.

You need help there?!

[He does feel bad, but there really isn't any reason to worry Penny. He'll be back upstairs and taken care of before too long.]

I'll come by as soon as I get taken care of, okay?

[He should have a while before fever sets in, anyway.]

I did, but... I'm at the hospital, it'll be fine.

Did you get away all right?

[This time he's not paying as much attention as he was with Penny; the video stays on. His face has a few minor scratches, like someone dragged their fingernails across it, but the worst of it is the arm he isn't holding the device with - that, at least, is not visible.]

It's okay... it's taken care of, now.

[Though he's clearly not happy about it.]

Ungh. You gonna be okay like that?

[He frowns at the visible scratches, wishing he knew more about the creatures. Will that get infected? Is it only through bites?]

Yes I only got bit a little.

[Oh. That.]

Yeah... it's-- I'll be all right. I'm already in the hospital.

And you got it taken care of?

I'm at home sleeping now.

Good. I guess. Is there anyone there to treat you?

[Sure, no reason at all. No reason. At. All.]

There are a few of us on staff that are here. Probably one of the safer places, if you stay inside the wards.

Good- you should make sure that you get plenty of sleep. Some of the kind where you're not on the network, too.

[He's joking, which is mostly evident except he's under some pretty lousy circumstances.]

Oh-- um. Not... not the magic kind of ward.

[It's amazing how fast he can forget where he is.]
