I'm not really the right angel to be giving this message, but they always give the really good ones to the boys. And I am a messenger, if not the messenger. So here goes -

How come the first thing out of every angel's mouth is "Fear not!"? I've pretty much decided they've got to be the scariest looking things ever. Which has got to make the whole messenger gig tough as nails.

Anyway, whatever. Hi--I don't even know you, but Merry Christmas to you too!

I think it's more the 'Hey, I just appeared out of no where and popped into your locked room! Don't freak out!'

Granted some of the other ones can get pretty tall. I'm more of the compact model. And hi! I'm Dulcie. Merry Christmas!

Oh wait--hang on, you said "some of the other ones." I'm about to make a bit of a mental leap. Am I going to hit the right answer when I make it? I'm just asking in case I embarrass myself when I miss the landing.

Got it in one. If I had the camera on it would have been a little more obvious, though.

You mean we could have all admired your luminous and magnificent wings, I figure.

Unless you're like one of those "Touched by an Angel" angels who were ordinary women with a backlight.

Backlighting is fine too, of course. But wings are more impressive and, generally speaking, more classical.

I always wondered about the backlighting thing. Is there a technie angel behind them with lamp and a wind machine?

[She does switch to video now. Thems are some impressive wings. Very classical.]

[On this end, it's just a guy in a denim jacket and a hoodie. Sorry. On the up side? He's quite handsome and full of smiles. So...there's that.

Which is nice, I guess.]

I don't know, but those wings are a lot more impressive. I mean...damn!

[And he immediately (and with some exaggeration) claps a hand over his mouth.]

Good thing, too. That might go to my head after a while.

Yeah, and aren't angels supposed to be humble? Or is that just saints and martyrs?

I don't think anyone could be humble all the time. That would be exhausting.

No--not quite a month. As you can almost certainly tell by my utter shock and surprise at casual encounters with divine or divinely-associated beings. Such as yourself.

What about you? You seem pretty well-adapted for a holy messenger stuck in a place like this. What's your secret?

Adaptability is part of the job. Besides, I first showed up here almost two years ago now. Gives a girl some time to settle in.

Ouch. If I weren't so taken by your...wings, I might just be hurt by that.
