[Luke is holding a sprig of mistletoe in his hand, looking at it thoughtfully, and not looking entirely pleased.]

The tradition associated with this...it's a bit odd, really. I mean, it looks more harmless than holly, in terms of festive winter plants, but it's dreadfully poisonous, and a parasite on trees besides. I suppose it might be trying to make something good out of something associated with something rather less good, but I'd think it would be best to leave it alone altogether. Find a different kissing plant.

[A pause. And then the mistletoe bursts into fire in his hand and he reaches and turns the video off.]

[ooc: Of course, despite his distaste for it, Luke is all over the City anyway. Anyone, and everyone. Specify if you want him as his girl self!]

[Surprising at it is, Axl has actually retained some knowledge from his Norse Mythology binge when he first showed up.]

Oh, I don't know. I think a usual scapegoat is allowed to find one of his own, especially when it's plastered everywhere. And what of poor Balder? I'm sure he'd not be fond of the reminder.

[Never mind that the instrument of his death being used to facilitate kissing is totally something Balder would be into. Basically: fuck Balder. All that he had to do was die. Luke totally got the ass end of that bargain.]

Olaf never seemed that bothered. I guess he's a had a long time to get over it.

But Olaf isn't really ever that bothered about anything.

Our lot sort of come back after we die. Not, like, as the same person, but with the same god. Ty told me about it.

I'd help, if I could. [Shoulder pat. Mistletoe. The shoulder pat evolves into pressing close instead, putting his arms around Axl's neck. Axl is taller, as Odin always is, but Luke isn't that much shorter.]

Hugging you, apparently. I wasn't intending to, but here we both are--ah, and--

[He doesn't get to finish the sentence. It's alright. It was only going to be something like "and here's where it was going" anyway. Which is kisses.]

[mmmph WHAT. FLAIL. He is still in too much shock to pull back just yet because GUY LIPS WHAT DO.]

[Flail is ok. Luke can work with flail. Anything is better than Bruce "Deadface" Banner.

Luke can't pull back anyway. The mistletoe magic is kind of insistent about that. He sort of pats Axl comfortingly. He feels it's the least he can do for his freakout.]

[Axl is the one who grips Luke firmly around the upper arms and uses some Odin-strength to pry him back.]

Er, look mate. You're, like, sweet-as and everything but I'm not really into you like that.

[Deeeeep breeeeath. Luke glances up, looks back at Axl.]

That's fine. Ok. Just...push me away as far as you can and then step back.

Uh... why?

[The furthest Axl can push someone is across the room and into the wall. It's a little frightening sometimes.]

[Luke is pushing a bit forward.]

We need to be not adjacent for this, so I can focus, Axl, please.

[Ah yes, sorry. Luke gets a good sized shove. Sorry if your back hits the wall a bit too strongly.]

[Luke goes OOOF, one hand going to his stomach, and then looks up again. Above them, the nests of mistletoe burst into sparking flame.]

Much better. We should be alright, now.

Oh.

[That's just slightly less awkward then.]

Not horrible, as curses of the day go. [Pause. Breath again. And then he takes his hand off of his belly and walks back over.]

I don't mind. Do you mind, terribly? Do you need some time?

Naw, I'm alright. I didn't throw you too hard, did I?

I've had worse. Just try and keep an eye out for mistletoe, I suppose, so we needn't do that again. Is the strength an Odin thing?

I reckon so. It's not always, like, on.

[Snerk.]

But it was deemed necessary for this.

Erm... I didn't mean to?

I know! Which is what makes it so funny. The part of you that is Odin was so offended by the mistletoe, he felt the need to provide you with your powers.

[ David is playing on the floor with Chew, half paying attention to what Luke's saying. ]

I was never much for mistletoe anyway. Why'd you want to force someone to kiss you if they don't want it? [ Chew gives him a big slobbery kiss anyway, because hes a big dumb dog. ]

Sometimes people don't realise they want to kiss you at all until it happens. I think it's usually just an excuse. [Luke crouches carefully, and wipes dog spit off of David's face with his sleeve.]

Not that I've ever felt I need an excuse, especially not mistletoe.

[Oh how romantic.]

No you don't, do you? [ He smiles as he says it; it's one of the things he loves about Luke. ]

[Luke is the God of Banal Romance, it's totally true. Every other previous appellation has been wrong.]

There's hardly a reason, is there? [He scritches at Chew absently with one hand and guides David's face into a kiss with the other one.]
