How does that work, then? Are the people without magic just left as the 'have-nots'?

We call them Muggles and they don't know we exist. There's an International Statute of Secrecy about magic and our government enforces it so we just blend in when we're out in non-magical communities.

There's something a bit unsettling about that arrangement, I think.

It's safer for both sides. I don't know if your world has witch burnings in its history, but that's part of what started it. The Muggle Prime Minister knows about us, though, ours has to meet with him to keep him updated about our world.

Yes, but at the same time, it sounds almost as though the Government is complicit in hiding a group of very secretive and powerful people.

[He thinks it sounds like how his father set up his black magic secret society and then got everyone in high places to either join or help hide it or both]

I never said it was perfect. Besides, it's not like we're totally secret—loads of witches and wizards have Muggle parents or we marry ones that do.
