[ Finally, Merlin addresses the network after coming back to the City. Those who knew him before might notice that he's gotten a bit older and, if you're perceptive, that there's definitely some added weariness to his eyes. But it's not quite that noticeable, either. ]

The City's the same as always, I see. But I guess a week doesn't really change that much.

Dancing's at least a pretty nice curse.

I don't know how many of you knew I was gone, but I'm back now. Have been for a while, actually. Who's still here and how are you doing?

Oh, and apparently Christmas coming up soon? We don't celebrate that back home so... I'm a bit curious what it's like. But I'll find out, won't I?

Maybe I should be worried about it? This is the City.

I like reading. And magic.

Well, what kinds of books do you like to read? Or what have you read that you enjoyed?

Mostly anything. Magic, stories, mysteries, just facts... I'm not picky.

You simply like to read at all, then. Some people have actual preferences. [But that makes it easier to find something.]

I'm kind of the same, right now. I'm just learning what things I do and don't like. Somethings I did before I didn't really care about, I just wanted to look good, or smart.

[ He's always more... done things because he didn't think there was anything else for him to do. Reading was more about studying, for starters. ]

Why?

Because I was concerned about appearances, and excelling, rather than what I enjoyed. There are even some things I've never done before, that normal kids do all the time. Like have friends.

Having friends is new to me. They weren't necessary before, when I just cared about being smart and good at sports.

You didn't feel lonely?

I...I probably did. I just didn't realize it. I was so busy, after all. If I wasn't at school, or studying, or playing soccer, or at self-defense classes I was in the Digital World.

There wasn't a lot of time to understand much of anything I was thinking or feeling.

The Digital World? What's that?

Well, before I came here, it was the only other world I knew of, other than my home world. It's supposed to be made of digital data.

That's why, when I came here, I wasn't surprised about learning of other worlds.

[Not that Ken would mind. But he might not know the best way of going about it.]

Well, that's something I'm still learning.

I do like my friends from back home. And I did enjoy soccer. I like being useful, too.
