[The video opens to a view of the fountain and a small pair of feet clad in unusual, tight-fitting red boots. The audio feed is little more than the buzz of many voices overlapping, words lost in the crowd.

The little feet shift, pace, and occasionally vanish out of sight. After a time, the owner of the feet sits on the fountain's edge, coming into view. She's young and petite; her billowing outfit, tied at the waist, is all subdued red-browns and yellows. Her dark brown hair is pulled into an off-center bun.

The girl looks around with wide brown eyes. It's clear that she's surprised and nervous and very possibly overwhelmed by the busy City Square, but there's no panic or jitteriness in her movements. With an air of calm grace, she draws her legs up and settles into a meditative position.]

I wish I had brought a book.

[Her eyes close. The feed times out long before she moves.]

I know it's not the same as being at home...but at least you're not alone here, not really. We're all stuck, so.

Hey, it'll be okay...the thing about this place is, time is sort of funny. So when you go back home, no time will have passed at all there!

No, it's okay. I know it's not fun being stuck here, especially at first.

Have you been here for long?

Uh huh. About 2 years now. Some people have been here longer, some have been here shorter, though.

Two years...? I've never been away from my family before. I can't imagine being gone for so long.

...Are you happy here?

[tangledintower]

...You know, I actually am. It's weird, but I like this place, for the most part.

Maybe some of your family will end up here...or maybe somebody you know is already here!

Do you have a lot of friends?

[She looks uncertain.] Maybe. I hope so.

[tangledintower]

I have a couple of good ones, friends I wouldn't have met if I wasn't here.

We can look and ask and see if somebody you know is here, if you want.

That's not so bad.

Oh... I don't know. Shouldn't I stay here?

[tangledintower]

Well, you could stay here if you want to. That's not a bad idea.

Or we could put a message up on the network and tell people where you'll be if they want to find you, so you don't have to stay here if you don't want to.

The network? But what if someone who's looking for me doesn't know how to get to the network?

[tangledintower]

Oh, it's not an actual place, it's this...well, it's hard to describe. It's what we use these little phone things for, to communicate and put messages up on it and stuff.

Ohhh. [She looks at the magic-talking-box-thing skeptically.] I don't think my dad would use one of these. He's old-fashioned.

I'd never seen these before I got here. They take some getting used to.
