Well, for me, that wasn't such a bad weekend. I kinda enjoyed most of it. Back to being a flying freak, now. But it's not so bad, either. I kinda missed flying. [He's still smiling, but he probably doesn't look AS cheerful as he did over the weekend.]

Anyone wanna take off to the skies with me?

Hey, Kira, Alexiel, I might have seriously pissed off Karl. And he might be coming after Sara because of it. If we could, somehow, take shifts looking out for her, I'd appreciate your help. I mean, it's my fuck up, and I'll understand if you think I should take care of it myself, but I already tried what I could. Everything just backfired, really bad.

If you just can't, it's okay. I'll do what I can.

There's this...he's kinda like a vampire, but technically he's not one. His name is Karl, and I kinda pissed him off. Could you lay low for a couple of days? Just until Charlie's wedding? And be very careful. Don't even talk to this guy. Normally I'd say it's okay since I do, but he's really pissed off. And he's threatening to come after you.

Saya, you doing okay? [He pronounces everything slow and carefully.] Just in case you don't get this, I'll let Charlie know to talk to you. But I wanted to ask you personally if I could go over and see you. We'll talk more then. Might be easier.

Everything been okay so far? Saya doing alright? I was wondering if it's okay I go over, but since she's not yet communicating fully, I figured you could ask her. In case she doesn't get my message.

No! [Like a little kid trying to thwart bedtime, she is quite vehement.]

[But then she rubs at her eyes. Lousy bluffer, is Saya.]

[He almost believes her, but then she rubs her eyes. For whatever reason she doesn't want to go.... Hm.]

How about if I go with you? Then we can keep talking? [And if she falls asleep then, well, she was wrong.]

[And like a child, Saya sees no ulterior motive and finds his idea simply brilliant!] Okay! Saya show Setsuna my room.

[She hops up (and wavers just slightly, barely noticeable) and tugs on Setsuna's hand. C'mon!]

[He can't help it - he just wants to help, and he's not ready to leave yet, anyway.] Alright, I guess I should if I'm gonna be staying here for a week or so.

[He didn't notice her unsteadiness, quick as it was, not this time, and takes her hand with a smile as he's led.]

For someone tired, you still seem pretty energetic.

Because I not tired. [Stubborn, yep.]

[She leads Setsuna up to her room, which is decorated pretty much as she found it except for a few things lying about: Charlie's wedding invitation, some scattered clothes, a very empty plate. She hasn't personalized anything.]

[The lone window, however, is wide open, and Saya immediately walks over and basks in the light breeze, eyes closing, raising her arms like she's flying.] This Saya's favorite part.

[He doesn't argue, because, well, yes you are, Saya. Besides, he wanted to see her room. His fairly much the same, seeing as it's hard for him to want to decorate, but the room almost looks like a clean slate. It's rather fitting for Saya's current position.]

[He grins, watching her by the window, then doesn't think before speaking - his biggest habit.]

You wanna go flying sometime?

Flying? [She turns to him with a delighted grin -- then looks him over.] Setsuna... has pretty wings. Yes? To fly? [It's as if she's just now noticing they're gone.]

[And in fact, she hurries over and moves to walk around Setsuna, to get a look at his back. Where'd they go?]

Yes, the wings are to fly. [There's a light dusting of color on Setsuna's face at the wings being called pretty, though. Well, they kind of are.]

[When she walks around him, Setsuna looks back, and can figure out, since she was just talking about them, why.]

You want to see them again?

[Her splayed hand is busy rooting over his shoulder blades, trying to figure out the trick to it. At his offer, she moves back to face him, smiling her approval.] Mm! I want to see.

[He manages to stay still as Saya explores, but does find it slightly ticklish. There's only a light laugh.]

Alright, but move back a bit. [He goes into the middle of the room, where he's furthest from most everything, then allows the wings to manifest once more, only two, this time. Bright, white wings.]

[As instructed, she scoots back to lean on the windowsill and watches in awe as his wings seem to just appear from nowhere.]

[With a happy squeak, she bounds forward, hand extended -- but she pulls up just before making contact with his wing.] Can Saya touch? [She's learned at least one social norm.]

Yes. [He nods a little.] Just be careful. They're very sensitive to touch. And can be broken and hurt easily. [At least the tips were, where the bones were nearly splinters, and the feathers were easy to bend back, which was not pleasant.]

[She nods her understanding, and reaches out with exaggerated care to very gently stroke one of the wings with open fascination, her fingertips moving with the growth of feathers. Saya's eyes unfocus even as her tender smile remains -- something about wings strikes her as familiar.]

[The feathers are light and silky to touch. Setsuna's expression contrasts from the one he entered with completely; a peaceful one settles over him.]

They kinda feel just like a bird's wings, only bigger, huh?

[She doesn't have much concept of a bird's wing, but she does have something in her mind: smoother, sleek. Black.]

[But Saya likes these. They're soft, like a pillow. She keeps on stroking with slow, careful touches.] Setsuna is very special.

[He stiffens a little at her words, turning to look at her, but not so much as to pull his wings away. He's just taken by surprise, is all.]

Spe.... No. I'm like any of the other angels. They all have wings. [But he's supposed to be the Messiah and a bunch of other things he doesn't care about.]

[Oh, there are more like him? Huh. Saya's hand freezes, hanging in midair where it had been petting his wing.]

Angels... Saya know that word. Angels fight bad things. [Her hand drops to her side, smile softening. Setsuna saved her from Karl. Of course he's an angel.]

[Concern flickers across his expression when she removes her hand.]

Fight.... I don't know about bad things, but I fight people I don't like, or try to defend people who can't defend themselves. I'm not gonna stand by and watch something bad happen.

[Saya nods, her smile strangely wistful.] If something bad happen, you fight. [She tries very hard not to entertain the thought of herself being one of the bad things. She wishes, but her lingering doubts won't ebb so easily.]

[A slow blink, and she stifles another yawn.]

[While he does fight Karl, he can't even imagine Saya ever being on the other end of his blade, for any reason. When she yawns again, he nods to the bed.]

I can keep my wings out, but why don't we lay down? Then we'll go flying tomorrow?

[Saya wipes at her watering eye and nods, walking over to the bed. She steps out of her shoes and -- surprise, Setsuna -- lifts her dress overhead and drapes it over a chair. Worry not, she's wearing a slip beneath it, almost a dress itself but thinner material, tiny straps over her shoulders, a less generous hemline.]

[She sits on the edge of the bed and glances up expectantly.]

[Maybe it's Sara's rejection, but, for once, Setsuna thinks nothing of the removal of garments. This whole scene is honestly chaste.]

[He smiles back at her and lays on the other side, wings still displayed as said. It takes a little maneuvering when he lays down, but he manages, on his side, facing her. Then he pats the bed.]

Your turn.

[Saya curls onto her side, facing him. There's space between them so she scoots closer, then closer, as much as she can get and still be curled up.]

Setsuna not leave? [Her eyelids are already drooping, but she wants that answer before she drifts off.]

[He shakes his head, a little sluggishly. Maybe Saya isn't the only one that's sleepy.]

No. I'll stay. Here. [He lifts one wing over her. It blankets them in a pale, almost lit darkness.]

I'll even protect you in your sleep.

[A tiny smile plays on Saya's lips and she settles into the pillow, warmed by his wing over her. Her hand reaches out to rest gently on his arm as she slips into unconsciousness.]
