[ The feed snaps on to 'Li' popping shut the oven. He's in Cafe Satine's kitchen, surrounded by a colorful cornucopia of half-and-fully decorated desserts. Most stark is a tray of painfully red cupcakes with sugar-shards. A serial killer's treat. ]

[ Sublimation is a terrible thing. ]

[ Scowling, Li digs the heels of his hands into a slab of dough. Folds it. Digs again. From behind it looks like he's pummeling someone to death. One of his memories has crept its way onto the Network. He can't ignore it. But he can't withdraw somewhere until it disappears either. ]

[ That'd be tantamount to admitting he has much, much more to hide. ]

Food is good. Fashion though... I'm pretty happy with jeans and a t-shirt. I'm lucky if it's clean.

Same here. [ Hei's line of work is high on drycleaning bills. Bloodstains are a bitch. ] Maybe that's why Passione's employees try to shoo me out if I set foot in the store. That, and I leave flour-prints everywhere.

French doesn't always mean snooty. Maybe the original owner was French, for all I know.

[ pls Harry. If he wore his work, he'd be dripping blood and entrails everywhere. ] I guess you could say that. Not everyone approves of the clothes smelling like cookies, though.

I used to feel that way around theater majors in college, back home.

Theater majors tend to be pretentious. There are minor differences.

Cookies. Scent memory. It's got nothing to do you with you man, no offense. No, you come off as the awkward kid in school.

You have a point about scent-memory. [ Copper and gunpowder scents still wield enough power to put a sour taste in his mouth. ] The awkward kid...? [ Yep, yep. The facade is working. He offers a timid little smile. ] Hopefully it's a phase I'll grow out of.
