[ Liam is particularly serious today as he waves the City's morning newspaper across the screen. ]

I don't suppose anyone's heard of any news concerning this… headhunter have you? With luck, he's left with the circus, but any news or information you may have on this is of grave importance.

If you haven't checked the news, you should. It's only a matter of time before Elliot finds out.

That "headhunter" is was actually here?

[ Now he feels bad for disregarding Elliot's worries... ]

If the papers can be believed. Do you know something? [ he doesn't want to believe it either, to be honest. ]

Nothing useful. Just that it's a murderer from someone else's world.

I just can't believe the odds of someone like that actually being here.

Murderers are common everywhere, unfortunately. It's my hope this is not the same one. [ although two people with the same MO is rather... disturbing. ]

[ It takes Tyr a second to respond. Liam has a good point. ] Having a murderer here at all is disgusting.

Do you know anything about them?

Very little, I'm afraid. If it is the same man, I'm do not doubt that it will only be a matter of time before he comes after a friend of mine. Previously, it seemed as though he was intent on picking off the Nightray family one by one.

[ ...Well, they'd definitely talking about the same person at least. ]

Does your friend have anyone watching out for him? This place is dangerous as it is; he can't afford to be defenseless if there's someone after his family.

[ If only it were that simple ] I regret to say that controlling Elliot is... almost impossible. He'd risk life and limb to capture this man and no amount of persuading will stop him if he thinks he might be here.

[ Tyr had gotten that feeling before too. ] That's all the more reason he needs ~~someone~~ a bodyguard. If he won't stay in hiding, he at least needs someone to protect him.

Elliot's pride won't allow himself to accept one. He's quite the swordsman. [ although not Break's equal. He misses that man. ] But you're right. Better to attempt to force the issue, then allow him to run loose.

Maybe he'd like it more if it was just "back up" than a "bodyguard". [ He knows the stubborn type. ] Running off on his own in any case is just irresponsible of him. Even someone that's proud of their power has to admit that.

[ the reply is a long time in coming as Liam's seriously contemplating this advice. ]

That might work; although I would need someone to watch him during the day. [ Leo would, but Leo would also just go along with anything Elliot wished for. And as for Vincent... he'd just as likely nap then watch. He's hardly reliable. ]

Hire two people.

[ Tyr doesn't even think that he'd use people he already knows. If Yuri was still here, he could just recommend Brave Vesperia to do this job, but since Riou and Tyr are the only members here now... ]

Two? [ he frowns ] That would give each at least a day or two off... Did you have someone in mind?

[ A day or two off? ]

You could put up a job posting, but the guild that handled that kind of work dissolved a while ago.

[ Too many? ]

Ah... that's a shame. If I had known about them sooner... [ he shakes his head ] I'll do that. It wouldn't do for the Nightray heir to land himself into trouble. [ again ]

Headhunter?

Indeed, although perhaps that's a bit premature. There's only been a handful of murders discovered so far of men and monsters both missing their heads. It reminds me of a murderer from my own world.

[ in fact, the story is so minor compared to the chaos of the circus that it's barely made print in the newspaper. ]

Did they catch the murderer, where you're from?

I'm afraid not. He went missing several years before he started killing again, just before I was brought here.

[ he frowns ]

I sincerely hope it's not the same man. [ Elliot won't like the hovering and hover Liam will! ]

What exactly are you going on about?

[ he blinks and then starts reading aloud from the newspaper ]

At 7pm, last night, two bodies were discovered in the underground district with heads severed. Being as this is the 5th case of a headless sighting, the police are suspecting that a new serial killer is making his mark. The police were unavailable for further comment but did mention they would catch the sonuvabitch before he could kill again or wear themselves out trying.

[ he cleared this throat lightly and then continued ] As you can see, there's not much here but it sounds highly familiar to another case back where I'm from.

Neither bodies nor 'serial killers' in the Underground are nothing new. The Police Force has no jurisdiction down here. Whole thing sounds like nothing more than tabloid journalism. Wouldn't surprise me if the follow-up somehow links Weekly World News Bat Boy to it.

[ Liam frowns ] You mean to say this is common? [ so he should just forget all about this? Unlikely! ]

[ It sounds almost like he's sighing when he hears this, but it's a bit more tense than that.

The worst part is knowing that this is his fault. ]

I appreciate the warning.

[ Did Leo already know? ] He'll be even more difficult to contain then usual. He's already suspicious.

I'll be sure that he stays out of trouble.

[ he hesitates ] What will we do if he discovers it on his own? An acquaintance suggested bodyguards.

[ He won't tell Liam that it won't be necessary. He's not about to bring more people into this. ]

Would he even put up with that?

No, of course not. [ what do you take him for? ] We'll have to ask for discretion.

To ask for it, and then to hope it's effective...

[ Even if he knows it will be, he can't keep an unhappy note out of his voice. ]

It's a shame, isn't it.

Not my best plan, I admit, but if we work harder to uncover the right clues, it may buy us just enough time to do our work.

[ all Liam's missing is the pipe and hat and he'd be a veritable Sherlock Holmes ]

Have you found any clues yet?

Not many. I was informed, however, that such beheadings are common in the underworld here -- That's not at all reassuring, however.

You could try to tell him that and see if he'd listen.
