[ ... Okay, sure. This made sense.
This guy looks like he's some sort of cross between playing it off and being just... disappointed in what's happening. Because really. Kidnap someone, at least make it exciting. Or don't kidnap them, and let them get back to their own exciting lives.
But at least he's recording, and he knows it. He's already familiar with the device, and the third look on his face is the one he's wearing while he thinks of what he can do with it. ]
Must've been a hell of a night. Somebody tells me I've been here already? Must've been too - I've got a usual. Not bad. A little creepy. So spit it out, come forward before the court, whatever. Somebody come tell me something interesting.

It's all pretty interesting - this is so not how this stuff developed at home - but it's very quickly that the racecar blueprints get more of his close attention. How could regular cars and taxi cabs even compete? ]
Messes are what make a house a home. Is there anywhere to actually race things here? This looks like it would be fun to see in action.

Hand on a hip, she smooths her hair down as she watches him browse. ]
Not that I've seen. We had a great race-track back at home, but it might be best to scout out the roads leading up to the forests and see about testing one out there.
we'll just pretend my problem replying here is also taken care of magically
We'll definitely have to do that. Sooner rather than anything that isn't basically immediately.
s'all good with me o/
[ Picking up a chart off the floor, she rolls it over. Engines, 1920's style. ]

[ And there might have been more but oooh what are you doing that looks nice ] Some of this stuff is pretty mainstream steampunk - I figure different era?

The technology here is advanced beyond what I'm used to. It was easy enough to draw parallels at the library and place my world's advances around the nineteen-twenties of a dozen others. That's not even a dating system I'm familiar with, but when asked it's proved accurate enough to those who've done their respective history.
'Steampunk' sounds like a jazz band.

How do you have jazz without the 1920s. Those go together too.

[ Chuckling, she leans in to point out an area that's been erased and re-drawn several times in the heart of the engine, hair tucked behind an ear so it doesn't swamp the page. ]
Do you have any idea how to fix this? I got stuck on it during an all-nighter and I can't for the life of me figure out the maths behind it. I think I created a mental block. A fresh pair of eyes might help.

[ Attention shift to the area in question and man he wishes he could explode this properly to see it. He can see it fine here, it's just, he could start working immediately. It slows him down just enough to be irritating when he has to keep up with the visualizations in his head. ] Have you got an actual car for this or is it just this blueprint?

[ Can't help an amused smile as she looks him over. ]

[ Heading over to a shelf of odds and ends, she pull down a sheath of small A4 pages, all dog-eared to hold them together in a certain order. ]
I lost something when I arrived, it wasn't on my person. [ Turning them around, the layered plans depict an Equalist's electrical shock glove. ] It was used defensively.

Can I? [ Reaching out for them, sort of taking them anyway, although she can snatch them away if she wants. If she doesn't, he turns them a little, layers them, twists back to the table and sets them down to layer them up and out, scanning the designs over. ] Defensively? What for?

There's a man who wants to take away the special abilities of people back home. Benders are able to control an element, this Amon and his Equalists have taken it upon themselves to destroy any part of someone that makes then more than a normal human being.
I'm not in danger, but my friends are. I'd like to have my weapon back in case he turns up here and I have to protect them again.
no subject
He's not just killing people? That seems like it would be easier. How do you stop someone controlling an element - I thought that was genetic.
no subject
[ A shrug is given to his other observations. ]
He touches people on the forehead, between the eyes. It looks like chi-blocking which usually cuts off a bender's ability for a short amount of time if it's used on arms or legs, only a more permanent measure.
no subject
[ That gets a glance, if even just a quick one. ] That sounds like a pretty shitty thing to do. He's going for equality with power like that?
no subject
[ Amon's nefarious doings get a wrinkled nose. ]
He's a nasty guy, when you get right down to it.
no subject
He sounds like it. Can see why you'd want these back pretty fast.
no subject
[ Mentally filing away a note to buy him a drink sometime for being so obliging, she smiles. ]
You can take the plans with you, if you'd like. I trust that I'll see them again.

You don't have copies?

And I won't mow you down in the first car I build.
no subject
Square deal, that sounds fair. To be clear, this goes for anything you make with a motor. No mowing me down in anything with a motor. Even a lawnmower. [ ..mowing... ] Especially lawnmowers.
