[007] video / action | winter is coming

[The device is set up so that it captures a dramatic shot.

There is a dark haired man, back facing the camera. He’s dressed mostly in dark purples with a black cloak that flutters in the cold morning breeze, feathers making the lining ruffling. There is an intricate sword unsheathed in his hand and a silver circlet rests upon his brow. Next to him is a flag, pole wedged into the ground with this creature embroidered into the cloth.

Who the hell is this mysterious stranger?

He turns to face the camera and --

Hold the fuck up.

It’s Andy.

No, seriously, it’s Andy.

He looks serious, but as soon as his face comes into full view of the camera a smirk quirks at the corner of his mouth.]

It has been many winters since I’ve been banished, but winter is coming once more and I refuse to remain forgotten any longer.

It is time I reclaim my throne.

[His eyes flash with determination before he clicks the device off. The journey begins now.]

((ooc: Feel free to action it up or hit him on the network! Andy is not cursed per say, he's just going to consider this one big old LARP and is going to go with it, darnit.))

[Dulcie's only semi-cursed, but is rolling with it anyway because hey there's dragons. Her normally pink hair is dark and long, and she's in a simple pink frock, a basket of flowers in her hands. She sidles in behind Andy, giving him a broad grin.]

[Andy is so committed right now, he manages to not be startled. He turns with a flourish, bowing his head in greeting.]

I thank you, fair maiden. 'Tis something I picked up in my travels.

[She curtsies. It may have been a few centuries since she's last done it, but some things you never really lose the knack for.]

It suits you. Let me hazard a guess. You are here to see the King?

[He laughs heartily.] Ah, am I so obvious? Yes, I am here to speak with the King. We have... many matters to discuss.

Sounds exciting. Do you need someone to escort you to the palace?

Maiden fair, it would do my heart wonders were you to accompany me! I must warn you, though, that it may be dangerous, but if you are up for the adventure, I shall not turn you away.

[She hooks her arm in with his with a grin.]

Are you worried there are dragons between us and the castle?

[To the castle!]

Ha! Dragons! Should a dragon attack, I shall defend us.

[He gives his sword a twirl. It's not the best twirl, but he looks pretty confident doing it, so that has to count for something.]

[He gets a clap anyway.]

Now I almost want to see that.

My stepmother counts as a dragon, so you will. [smiiiirk]

[She laughs again.]

I bet you don't want her to hear that.

See, I had no idea you had a throne.

[Lucy really isn't cursed either but this is fun. Though her version of cosplay at the moment is a mink coat and a gown that would make queens jealous except for the fact that all the jewels are fake.]

[Oh, did Andy's eyes fall out of his head? He has to pass a gloved hand over them to be sure they're still there and he clears his throat, bush creeping across his face.]

Ah... Yes! Once, long ago, I was in position to inherit the throne before I was cast away in favour of my brother. I am here to take back what is mine.

[Oh Andy, it's a very good thing she didn't just go with Slave!Leia! Costume. That blush is adorable though and makes her smile.]

Brothers. This is why some animals kill their siblings.

[That costume would basically make all of his nerd fantasies come true...... /sob]

Ah, it is not my brother's fault... He was but a babe when the decision was made. It was that cur of a stepmother that convinced my father so.

She would have me killed, where he to bend to her will, but fortune smiled upon me all those winters ago.

[She does like making nerd fantasies come true.]

Stepmothers. Always wicked. What is the deal with that?

So, you take back your throne, then what's the plan? You know I'm kind of in search of a crown.

[Lucy, you're going to make his brain explode. He has trouble staying in character, being flustered.]

I, ah... Yes. I intend to rule justly. Find a maiden fair to rule with me, perhaps, as queen...

[Making his brain explode is at least half the fun of talking to Andy.

His answer makes her laugh]

Ruling justly is the way to go. No one really liked Henry the Eighth. They were just all afraid he'd chop off their heads. [It's the only king she can recall the name of off the top of her head.]

I have it on good authority, I look great in a crown and I actually thought I was Princess of Alabama when I was a little girl.

[The real Andrew is a little bit of a coward. Prince Andrew is full of confidence.

He bows low, smiling brightly.]

Then would you, Lady Lucy, Princess of Alabama, do me the honour of being my queen when I reclaim my throne?

[She'll totally encourage him to roleplay more often if this is the result it gets.

She laughs at his question.]

Well of course, but how do you know I'm not going to end up being an evil Queen that undoes all your just ruling?

[ Sweet mother of -- !!!!??? ]

[Oh Li, oh Li, come LARP with me...

He smiles benignly.]

Prince Andrew, I much prefer.

[ Li can't LARP. ]

[ Li doesn't know how to LARP. ]

[ Li doesn't know what LARP is. ]

Um. Okay. [ Must be a curse. ] Are you headed somewhere, Prince Andrew?

[Oh, Li. Andy will explain it to you later. /pets]

Yes, I am headed to see the King. We must have a discussion on my right to the throne.

[ Li will be like: O.o? ]

Oh. [ ... ] Why were you banished?

[Andy sighs dramatically, a look of sadness passing across his face. Boy is damn good at this.]

My mother died when I was but a little boy and my father remarried soon after... They had another son and my stepmother convinced him to cast me away so that her own child could have the thrown.

My father did not have the heart and banished me instead, so... I have come back to take my kingdom.

It weighs heavily upon my heart that it must be this way, but so things pass.

That's terrible. [ And reminds him of Cinderella. Without the singing mice. ] How do you know your, um, stepmother won't try to stop you?

[He might have a glass slipper somewhere...]

Ah, if she tries, well...

[He raises his sword.]

Then I am prepared.

[ O:! Don't wear it! Impractical and life-threatening! ]

Really? [ Gulp. ] You'd kill her?

[But it'd make a good shiv!]

...Should it come down to it and would rid my kingdom of that vile cur, then yes. I would.

[ Not if it's stuck in your foot! ]

....Vile cur...?

[ Whut? ]

[He's going to break character for just a moment, leaning in close to the camera and whispering:]

It means a dog, Li!

[And then he quickly straightens up as if nothing happened at all and resumes character.]

Yes, a vile cur. An apt description for a woman such as herself.

[ Oh. ]

Oh. [ ... ] What about your half-brother?Does he die too?

It depends upon the side he chooses, as it does with my father. I would like not to, however.

[ Andy, Andy, Andy. You should administer poison to the father and son, then frame the stepmother. Less troublesome that way. ]

Is he a noble young prince?

[T-teach him, Reaper-senpai. Teach him the ways of assassination and murder.]

Ah, yes... He must be at least twelve now, poor child.

[ Tsk, Andy. It's impractical to share tricks of the trade with outsiders. Bad business and all. ]

That's an impressionable age. If he's not under his mother's thumb, maybe you can convince him to side with you?

I would hope so. I can deal with the blood of my stepmother on my hands, but that of a child...

[Andy shakes his head.

Perhaps, not surprisingly, he and his little cousin have played this scenario out before. Epic sword battle between brothers, team up against stepmom, epic win. He really misses Charlie about now.]

[ Orz ;; ] You're right. It wouldn't do to kill an innocent boy. [ Says the man who's killed several. ~~Personally, he thinks you're approaching the situation the wrong way. Better to eliminate the boy too. One less contender to the throne.~~ ] Do you know if your father's receptive to your return, anyway?

Ah... That I am unsure of. I fear he may be too far under my stepmother's clutches and that he may be lost to me forever, but... I shall hope as I make my way toward the castle.

[Which he is doing. Right now.]

[ This dragon - this very, very real dragon - stands near the flag, craning its neck up at it curiously. After a moment or two, he opens his mouth, coughing and hacking as smoke comes out first - and then fire, which flies dangerously close to the flag. ]

[OH DEAR SWEET MOTHER OF -- Andy very, very carefully picks up the flag by its pole and tries to sidle away. He could fight this dragon or perhaps... perhaps it can be reasoned with?

He's going to regret this.

Andy waves the flag, trying to catch the dragon's attention.]

Hello, beast! Beast, down here!

[ Andy could try fighting this dragon, but when its breath can melt metal... well, it wouldn't be a very wise decision.

Orca tilts his head up at the human, snapping his jaws at the other in disapproval. Clearly, he doesn't like being called "beast". ]

[Nope. Not even going to try to fight.

He takes a step back at the snap, bowing his head in apologies.]

M-my apologies, Lord Dragon! [Is that better? He hopes that's better (and that the dragon is not a Lady instead. That would be embarrassing.)]

Ah, I mean you no harm! I only wish for safe passage to the castle!
