I spent years trying to cure my... [son, you got a condition] ...condition. If I'd succeeded, my world would be in even worse shape than it's already in and people I care about would be dead. So do I want to prevent it?

Not extraneous, just something you'd probably rather not have to have. Anyway, even better. I did think he was useful, but it sounded like you didn't like him. So why not find a way to control him here?

[What did Luke think he did with his life other than orchestrate sensor planting parties and "waste his time" volunteering his medical skills, such as they were?]

Luke, you should have seen me five years ago. My control's not perfect, but it's not something I'm expecting a quick fix for. We're in this for the long haul.

Just because you've resigned yourself to there not being a way to sort all of this instantly, doesn't mean there ISN'T one.

I could have come in naked. And it wasn't a kiss, it was you standing utterly motionless whilst I kissed you.

I would have called security if you'd come in naked and my lips were very definitely involved, so it was a kiss. You didn't demand active or enthusiastic participation until after the fact. [Not that Luke would have gotten it.]

I don't suppose you must have kissed anyone ever if you're of the opinion that qualified.

I'd tell you that I was a 42 year old virgin, but that would probably just make you even more interested in things that are none of your business.
