[Ken's device, which has been inactive for quite sometime, sputters on. Ken's in front of it, dressed rather warmly for the time of year, in the middle of speaking.]

Is that a question or -

[His sarcastic smile drops completely. The video feed will show he's clearly struggling, arms behind him. He looks around, looks to the device. Puzzlement. Then a slight look of shame.]

The City, right? It's been a while.

[A little more struggling.]

Could someone, please, help get my arms untied?

[Feed keeps going for a while, then times out.]


[ooc: He won't be able to respond any further until someone helps him out. Assume all responses are made after the fact, unless you want to help. Also, he's been canon updated to the middle of episode 44, just after being kidnapped.]

Oh, too bad. [Yeah, she doesn't sound disappointed... Though she supposes anyone who's friends with Toph will probably be down. Tyr and Ken...

But she's not about to dwell on that, and instead gets ready to leave.]

I'm on my way, okay?

[And she heads off! It'll take her a little while, twenty minutes or so, before she's knocking on the door.]

[He's dressed in cooler clothing, has tea set out, and greets Rita with an open door and the same slight head-bow he always gives.]

Rita-san, please be welcome here.

[Rita herself is dressed totally summery: tank top, short skirt, and sandals. She's cooled down from her temper earlier (for now) and gives him a little smile.]

Hey. This might not be the best place to be, but it's still good to see you again.

It's alright. I might miss home while I'm here, but I do appreciate the people I've met.

Tea? [He gestures to it, then takes a seat himself. This was not going to be an easy story....]

[She sits down and reaches for the tea, thinking that he's right about that.]

I think anyone who makes friends here would think that.

That's true.... When you care about people, you want the best for them, even if that means missing them.

[It's why he missed everyone from home, but he would never wish they would come to this place. Not unless they wanted to.]

Yeah. I mean, who wouldn't miss their friends?

[Only a weirdo as far as Rita's concerned. But talking like this is kind of sappy, so she takes a sip of tea and decides to get around to the original point.]

So, the kidnapping... What exactly happened?

[Oh, right...that. He frowns.]

You recall when I was the Digimon Kaiser?

It wasn't that hard to forget.

[Maybe that's not the best thing to say, but Rita just continues right on.]

Was this guy out for revenge or something?

No....

[A sip of tea - talking about this stuff is so not easy.]

While what I did as the Digimon Kaiser was wrong, it appears there was some outside influence. When I was younger, in the Digital World, something got stuck in my neck.

This guy called it a Dark Spore. He said it made me intelligent and good at sports. And he wanted it.

There were all of these children with him, and he plans to copy it from me and give it to them, so they'll also excel at school and sports. That's why I was kidnapped.

I was sent back here right before he could copy it.

[Rita's prepared to let him tell it as he sees fit. She leaves the tea down as he explains, though, her expression becoming a little darker.]

What a creep. What kind of reason is that?

But this Dark Spore is part of why you became the Digimon Kaiser. Does this guy know that?

[A solemn nod.] He knows.

And I don't want that happening to the other children. Ending up like that, or in similar situations.

And he's just going along with it, anyway?

[She scowls as she thinks about it. She can't stand idiots who do that kind of thing...]

Or is that the reason he wants it in the first place?

[A perplexed, upset look.]

I'm not sure WHY he wants to do it. He never answered that part.

Ugh, that guy's got some nerve!

[More scowling, but she looks at Ken and feels a little worried again. There's nothing she can do for him here besides listening.]

Does anyone know where you are? Back there, I mean.

[oceantrauma]

Yes. My.... [a pause, a little uncertain, but it's the word that makes the most sense, the word most people seem to understand. Besides, they went to his Christmas party] My friends were there when he coerced me to go with him.

They will likely follow us and try to track us down.

[negativegate]

[She doesn't take much notice of the pause, just tilting her head a little as she listens. That's only a little relieving--Rita doesn't know anything about his friends or how competent they are--but it's better than Ken being left all alone with that creep.]

If they're your friends, then they'd damn well better track you down.

They will. There's no way they wouldn't.

[What he doesn't say is that likely won't be in time before the damage is done. It's what bothers him the most.]

[Ken... Rita can't do anything besides hope they will be.]

I wish I could go over there and give that creep a piece of my mind!
