Maybe it's a bit late, but between the flying—or, rather, lack thereof—dogs, and robot things, I didn't think cluttering up the network would be the best idea. But I can't finish out the month with being rude, can I? If Mum were here, I wouldn't hear the end of it at all.

That being said: a rather belated thank you to everyone who celebrated our birthdays with Percy and me! It was really lovely and the food was excellent—yeah, even the lot of you who said they were rubbish cooks. Liars, all of you.

And I suppose being so lucky and having loads of friends means that I'm really not going to be an old witch with only cats for company. Right? I mean, I've only got... three, as of recently.

The owl and the Pygmy Puff don't count.

[There's an amused exhale, not quite a laugh.]

I never thought that'd be a legitimate concern.

I know this person back home, Mrs Figg? I don't know how many cats she's actually got, but from what I'd heard, she had maybe five. I'm well on my way there, but—as if I could say no to taking these two in, could I? So it's Hal, Hotspur, and my Helena.

[She laughs in turn, soft and a little disbelieving.]

Unless you'd like to take them? Got a roommate to keep away the ticking yet?

[halves]

[He responds to her story, thinking about his own cat briefly. His tone is pleasant when he continues.]

Yeah. Yeah, but she's already got a... [Thing.] Dog.

Well, Merlin forbid I toss a couple of cats in with a dog. They'll just have to play nice with the owl.

[She sounds amused.]

Sir Weatherby hasn't got much of a temper but I reckon if they bother him enough, he might have something to say.

Did you pick all these names?

Actually, no. Well, I picked Arnold's, but everyone else had some help.

[halves]

Still. They're pretty good.

[Coming from a man who couldn't think of a better name than 'Blue'...]

You're probably the first person to say so, d'you know that? Apparently my brothers think I'm rubbish at naming things.

One of them got an owl and never gave the poor thing a name, so I decided he'd be Pigwidgeon, and Ron wouldn't shut up for weeks about how stupid it was. But Pig seemed to like it well enough.

[halves]

And where did that come from?

[hexuality]

[Her tone of voice indicates she's shrugging.]

I thought it was cute. Pig's a tiny owl, probably not much bigger than a fist.

[halves]

[Ah-] Like a pygmy, then.

[hexuality]

[She starts laughing.]

Exactly. Speaking of, I've got a Pygmy Puff.

I'm not sure I know what that is.

It's a little ball of fur. Sort of like a round hamster, I suppose, except they purr and squeak and roll around. My twin brothers bred them for their joke shop.
