[ Hello, City. Instead of more people discovering sand in things, this accidental broadcast seems to be showing two familiar ladies doing... something outside. Natasha is pressed up against Ariadne's back, one hand on the shorter woman's hip as she slides her back slightly, adjusting the way she's standing. ]

This gives us a better angle.

[ Natasha's other hand is on Ariadne's arm, and now she's shifting that, too. ]

Eyes forward.

[ There's a quiet noise of assent from Ariadne, and then Natasha shifts, tucking some hair behind Ariadne's ear. Lips close in, moving as the redhead says something. It's probably a wonderful sight for some of the City's residents...

...and then something shiny and sharp flies out of Ariadne's hand, embedding itself in one of the targets and making some sand trickle off the top upon impact. ]

I did it!

[ And that, City, is how to use throwing knives. ]

Everyone 'round here this polite? [ No, really, it's hurting him to behave. ]

[ There's a slight laugh. ] Only sometimes. [ She's used to people misbehaving.

She's definitely not used to being called 'sweetheart', though. ] It's Ariadne. What about you?

Ariadne, huh? Unusual name. Name's Howard.

It's Greek. From mythology, originally.

Ariadne. [ He says it a few times, getting his tongue around it. ] Ari? Adne? Addy!

Pleasure's all mine. Y'been here long?

[ Ariadne is now stuck between amused and wondering if Howard's been drinking to deal with the stress of being stuck in the City. ]

Almost three months, so not too long, compared to some people.

[ Sadly he hasn't, but he's going to get on that. ]

Three months'a this seems long enough. You do much'a anything else 'sides shooting at stuff?

I know people who have been here for years.

[ Oh, time to be smug. ] I'm the head of engineering at City Solutions.

Hope I ain't gonna be one of 'em, I got a war to help win.

[ That catches his interest. ] Engineering, huh?

Time doesn't pass back home. It'll still be waiting for you when you get back.

[ :3 ] I'm an architecture student back home, but it translated pretty well.

Guess that's the best comfort I'm gonna get.

Interesting mix. Even with the war on you wouldn't see many women getting into either if it meant their hands'd get dirty.

And how many would you see learning how to use throwing knives?

There's definitely one I can think of, not something I'd ever wanna witness.

That's the thing about these devices -- they like to make sure everyone gets to see what you're doing.

Everything? Gotta get a bag or cover for the thing, there's some stuff people just shouldn't get to see.

I usually stick mine in a drawer. I know several people have a "no bedroom" policy with theirs.

Not much of a sleeper, anyway, but, yeah, thinking that ain't a bad idea.

This engineering work y'got, what's the name'a the place you work at?

I don't think they were worried about it catching them sleeping.

That ain't always something I wouldn't wanna see. Depends who we're talking about.

[ Playing down his interest. ] Just wondered. I dabble with it sometimes.

I'm not sure they'd want you to see it.

You dabble in engineering?

[ Not so modestly. ] When I say dabble? I mean got my own company, build weapons amongst other things.

That's definitely not dabbling.

Are you going to do anything with it here?

Thought about joining the force, but that was mostly 'cause I know it'd irritate Bucky.

But knowing there's something better going? Might give it a look.

[ Ew, no, don't do that. ] That's a lot of commitment just to irritate Bucky.

You should.

Guy's got it coming. 'Sides, it's fun all 'round. [ But he knows he'd only grow bored, and tinkering is everything. ]
