I need to speak to those people who belong on the police force. I waited a couple of days because I was hoping to see someone step up, but I understand if no one has.

Justin Pendleton left the City. I think we need to talk about how to go about keeping people safe. If you know anything about the force, then don't hesitate to contact me. I'm Captain Steve Rogers.

While there isn't a chief, I suggest that we organize things until some order comes out and a new Chief of Police can be decided on. Is there anyone who is next in line? Someone I can speak to?

[ A laugh. ] You know I'll be fine, right?

If I don't keep an eye on you, who will?

I got two of them myself. [ But he understands it, Steve's need to protect. It curls through his veins the same as Steve's does. ]

That never look at yourself.

[He can't lose Bucky again, he can't.]

Yeah, okay.

[ He sighs, glances up and over. ] We'll be okay.

I want you to be there.

You know I'm always going to be watching your back, kid. Somebody has to.

You never do well without me. [ He grins slightly. ]

Never?

Yep. [ The next smile is toothier, mischievous. ] Couldn't find your own head.

[Said so dryly]

Don't worry, I keep track.

I can always count on that. Ever since we were kids.

You're okay, aren't you?

Sure. Just thinking.

[He thinks too much.]

Yeah, you got some big thoughts in that noggin of yours?

[ Because he gets it, how fear can just creep in. ]

We can talk about it later.

[At home, when it's quiet, in the dark.]

[ He shrugs slightly, but he won't let it drop. He'll ask again. ]
