Yeah, that one. [It's Lena's voice, coming in slightly muffled. Her phone's in her back pocket and it's turned on, but the only thing that can be seen is darkness. An NPC tells her the total, and there's the sound of coins clinking in a jar.]

Oh, you get a free doughnut with your coffee if you donate to our local charity.

I do? That is so cool! [She lets out a cheer and a moment later, there's a yelp of pain.] Oh, no! I-I'm sorry, I forgot. Are you okay?

Yeah, just, uh... here's your doughnut.

Thanks, sorry again. [The phone is finally moved out into the open as Lena takes it out to sit down at a table in the cafe. She sees it's recording and she rolls her eyes.] Maybe I should go back to the apartment. This curse is going to be worse for other people than for me. [A pause.] Not that I want to kiss strangers, but at least I don't get hurt by it.

[ooc: So here's the deal! Casters and Mortals can't touch without it hurting the Mortal, aka Human. So if Lena touches your character, they get the feeling of warmth coupled with a slight electric shock, that increases the longer they're in contact with her. (If they're not human, well, IDK if it'll affect them.) Have your character come find her in person and they can try to kiss her/see if she'll kiss them!]

[She looks up and smiles at him in greeting, but it's brief.]

Yeah, your kind it does. Not to other Casters.

Isn't that a little awkward? Or do you only hang around with uh - Casters?

I hang around Mortals. I go to school and everything, but I'm not in the habit of touching others. And if I do, I can just brush it off as static electricity so they don't get suspicious.

So does a handshake work the same as a kiss?

You mean the same pain for the Mortal? Yeah. Why, were you planning on testing your tolerance?

[She gives him a hint of a smile.]

[ Laughing. ]

No. I'm just curious about that kind of stuff. I like to figure things out. It can get annoying for some people though, so feel free to tell me to shut up.

Don't worry, I'm great at telling people to shut up.

No, it's skin-to-skin contact in general. My kind and Mortals aren't meant to mix.

[Chase emerges from the cafe with a drink of his own in hand, and a plate. It's obvious he's looking for somewhere to sit, but all the tables appear to be reserved.]

[Lena looks up and sees this guy looking for a seat, so she begins gathering her stuff.]

Oh, hey, you can sit over here. I was going to leave anyway.

[He turns to look, expression brightening.]

Really? If you're sure I'm not chasing you off.

[He'll just put his purchases down on the side of the table with the free seat - and lean across the table to kiss her.]

Yeah, you're not.

[She's looking down, gathering her phone in one hand and her doughnut in the other, so she doesn't see him closing in.]

It's just--

[She looks up and oh no he is too close for her to warn him that kissing her is not a good idea!]

[Oh no! It's far too late, and while this isn't obscene it's slightly more than a peck on the lips. While his shoulders jerk at the electric shock, it doesn't make him pull away imediately - but when he does he's a little wide eyed. Honestly, it's more a result of trying to guess her age.]

No, I-- Are you okay? I'm fine.

[Other than feeling guilty that she's shocked someone else. And feeling sort of weird because a) she has a boyfriend and b) this guy's got to be in his mid-twenties, right?]

Yes, I'm - [He gives into the urge to touch his lips, the sting still making them tingle.] I.. didn't know we got two curses at once. Wasn't electricity last week?

[Worse, he's thirty, and trying to work out if she looks like she's graduated high school.]

Umm, yeah. I'm pretty sure that curse passed. It's just me.

[She shrugs, looking apologetic. And let's see if he can work out that she hasn't even entered her junior year of high school yet.]
