A dirty man appears [Video/Action]

[harrydresden]

[Video clicks on right as someone in jeans, cowboy boots and a T-shirt that says "+20 Shirt of Smiting" across it, sits down in the fountain. Harry is looking particularly unkempt like maybe he hasn't washed in uh... a few months. Because he's been mostly dead. He got 'not dead' only a little while ago so it's totally not his fault. Well ok it kind of is. Anyway, he jumps right back up with a shout of protest. ]

Hey! Stars and stones that's... uh... not as cold as it should be.

[He realizes he is no longer at the edge of an Island at the south end of Lake Michigan. And that is about the time a long stick drops out of the sky and beans him across the head. There is cursing. Luckily the video fuzzes enough that people can't be TOO offended by it. Between bits of snow he picks up the staff from the water and frowns at it.]

I thought you bit the dust. What the hell is going on?

[And now he realizes he's not even in Chicago. And this is definitely not the Nevernever. Unless they got a really creative ghost taking up residency. He stomps toward the edge of the water which is still doing a decent job of grounding his magic out and letting that device keep broadcasting.]

Huh, someone dropped their... phone? Thing? Did phones change again? I can't keep up with this crap. What's the red light mean? Hell's bells,  did I break it already?

[Hoshit it's Ivy! Looking a little younger than the last time he saw her. And beaming it's really freaking cute. And of course he's smiling back. And glancing around looking for Kincaid.]

Ivy?

[archivy]

[ Kincaid isn't here, Harry. The smile tapers down somewhat by the time she's in front of him, the Archive asserting itself over the little girl again. ]

Hello, Harry.

[harrydresden]

[Poor kid, he worries about that serious look and the lack of joy in her her life.]

Heya Ivy. [Wait a sec, if Ivy's here, this thing is ridiculously powerful. It's not like the archive is easy to just force into things.]

Not that I'm not really glad to see you, how in the hell did this place get it's grubby paws on you?

[archivy]

The same way it did anyone else, I believe. [ She isn't entirely certain, which is-- very disconcerting. She tries not to dwell on it. ]

[harrydresden]

That's just not right.

Are you all right, other than the obvious I mean. [Concerned Harry is concerned]

[archivy]

I am. [ A beat. ] You are the only other person from our world here.

[harrydresden]

[His eyebrows draw together in concern.]

You're all alone here? [The implications of no one from their world being here is bad but that means no one is here to watch the kid's back. And he knows she cares about Kincaid.]

[archivy]

I have hired a bodyguard. This is not the first time that I have been here.

[harrydresden]

Well, I'm glad you found someone who could make a decent bodyguard. Let me know if I need to kick his butt for you.

If I'd been the only person I knew here I think I'd get pretty lonely. So uh... where do you stay anyway?

[archivy]

Mr Leon does well. [ A beat, and a little softer: ] He is not Kincaid. But I did not expect him to be, and there is less necessity for a bodyguard, here.

[ She's just too young still to live on her own. ] I stay with Mr Leon. All empty apartments can be rented, if you want to settle in one. Otherwise, you can temporarily sleep on the couch, or ask if anyone needs a roommate on the network.

[harrydresden]

Mr. Leon huh? Well he better. [Aww poor little Ivy misses her big, dangerous sniper assassin puppy. Harry feels for her even if Kincaid isn't is favorite person.]

Wow that's nice of you Ivy, Mercedes says she has an enormous house I can stay in too. Where are you staying? Maybe we could ... I don't know ... have a lunch date?

[archivy]

Yes. [ She does, even if she can't admit it. Just as she cannot admit that she is glad that Harry is here, though the initial expression on her face probably said enough. ]

That would be acceptable.

[harrydresden]

I definitely have to get a job.

Anything I should know about this place, you think?

[archivy]

There are curses. Not in the sense of our world, but events which can impact anything from the weather and environment to your emotional state or memories. Some are merely inconvenient, some are dangerous.

[harrydresden]

So by dangerous you mean entropy curse style? Man this place just sounds better and better the more people I talk to. It must be driving you nuts.

[archivy]

By dangerous I mean anything from being trapped in a desert environment for days to wanting to hug lions.

[harrydresden]

... uh.. that's pretty [He has to stop himself from swearing] pretty darn dangerous.

[archivy]

Yes. It is.

[harrydresden]

You're still in one piece though. Of course I imagine you have spells to put lions to sleep if necessary too. Are there... a lot of lions around?

[archivy]

Only in the zoo, and I was not the one who wished to hug the lions. It was simply an example.

[harrydresden]

Ah, ok. Well if you see me trying to hug lions or something... just you know, blast me with something.

[archivy]

I will keep that in mind.
