[After spending a good deal of the previous day and night heavily drinking, waking up to the sound of someone screaming was not what ne had expected so early in the morning.

Coming face to face with an animal instead of the suspected human should have been a sign ne'd had more to drink than ne thought in the first place. And wait...wasn't someone missing? Oh well.

That the animal spoke? Yeah, never mind this was just getting to be typical wasn't it? ]

[Hatter turns on the device so the City is offered a shot of the annoying thing.]

It's about time you woke up. You truly are worthless. There are better things to do than lay around all day unless you wish to take the Lord and Lady's place instead?

[Instead of responding to the bird, ne looks to the device.]

Still? Should One be happy it's only this day instead of both?

I gave away some of my chocolate.

Good deeds are oft punishable. This time One thinks it can be overlooked and will instead offer a replacement.

It'll be a good deed if I get something out of it.

I'm not complaining about free candy.

One done with alternative purposes can definitely be overlooked.

[Ne's not going out and about with the giant bird anytime soon...annoying thing.]

[Carla understands not wanting to be out and about with that bird and its big mouth.]

We'll make it a mini party then, the two of us. Lots of chocolate and One can show you around One's home.

Every time someone takes me on a tour it ends with 'and here's the bed.'

[Not that Carla is complaining. Merely observing.]

Then they aren't very creative, the tour should start there and include all the rooms.

Like ne'd said, the front door is unlocked and ne's currently lounging on a couch in the front room ignoring the bird that keeps trying to talk to her.]

[Yes, those things. Carla worries. Although she would rather not say that so openly.

She comes in to find the Hatter, knows from first hand experience better than to try to touch that bird and just sits down on the couch alongside her hip.]

[Hatter had asked her first, she can turn the question around.]

[Luckily nir feathers weren't as powerful as they are back home. He'd have been nothing but a scorch mark left on the ground...until he was reanimated or whatever happens to the City dead.

Ne shifts enough to make room for Carla on the couch, ne and Karl had fit quite well the night before.]

A small set back in One's plans at home. It will surely be the beginning of something better.

[Reaching over to the table, ne picks up a box of chocolates knocking the lid off before holding it out to Carla.]

[Carla isn't certain that's how things work, she just takes her piece of chocolate and puts it in her mouth.]

One can hope.

[Ne knows it can't be the end of everything since ne's been told things without being told them. Still a bit depressing to find out the 998 weddings were for nothing.]

[Hope. Hope is... not something Carla really does. Someone did a good job of draining all of it from her.]

I see you got Karl off your back.

[Ne's been holding on to it for...well a long, long time.]

Blew him up. Or tried to and failed.

[Ahaha... sigh. Carla knows he was asking for it, she's not here to complain about it.]

I'm sure he was disappointed.

Not really. He laughed over it and then we celebrated.

[Just going to reach into the box and pull out a piece for nemself before offering up to Carla again.]

[Carla never refuses chocolate.]

Nothing to complaint about. I just had to go home and stop my roomate's--

[She motions at the peacock. A daemon.]

And what was your present from the deities this weekend?

Rex can't defend himself. [She almost rolls her eyes.] Blonde spoiled him too much.

[But Tasmanian Devils are nothing to sneer at.]

[Not that ne really wants to talk about if that means ne has to then talk about what's bothering nem in detail as well.

Another piece of chocolate would be the answer to any problem. Or two.]

I hadn't looked at them in a while.

[Shrug. Carla is unwilling to divulge more, and unwilling to pry about the woes of others either. Her general lack of ability to sympathize made such exercises more tedious than rewarding.]
