[Flicker flicker, and the image emerges, but it's difficult to tell at first that it truly has pulled clear from the usual interference. But, watching carefully, one can see that it has and it now shows a view of the straight, gray trunks of the trees at the edges of town in the sudden and unexpected summer snow. The snow is still falling.

Everything seems still at first. But, just then, a horse snuffles and stamps, and the image sways a little. Same old, same old: hang the Network device from the horn of the saddle and carry on. The saddle creaks, there are the expected accompanying jingling sounds, and the owner of horse, saddle, and Network device comes down into view.

He looks into the device at first (and he seems to have known it was on this time). It's hard to tell what's smoke and what's just fog coming out of his mouth. He has snow on his hat and on his shoulders, and the poncho actually seems to be packed up for the time being (if you look quick, you can see it's tied on the back of his saddle). It wasn't warm enough, you know. Instead, he's gotten that long, tan duster sort of thing back out. Given the look of the it, he's not the first owner and maybe not the second, to say nothing of the damage he's done to the thing himself (poor thing). It's worn but it looks warm. Like the rifle and the rope and any number of other things, you can ask where he got it, but...

Now, as out of place as he looks at the moment, he's been up around the Rockies and other points North in his life. Being down around the south Texas border of late means he hadn't seen snow in some time, but he's seen it before. And recently too--between winter in the City and last summer's snowfall.

He moves aside a little bit and keeps himself half in view and half out, leaning against his horse, looking out beyond at the snow and the trees. And all he has to say is...]

Seems like it did this last year too.

[Yup. There's a half-smile for you as he turns back. A quick check of the saddle, a pat on the neck for the horse, and he climbs up again. The view of the trees in the snow lingers for a moment. He gets the horse to walking again before reaching down to close the device again, which sends the feed back into that other electronic snow and mist and fog with a--]

[ooc: Cut for a large but SFW picture of snow. For the fans, yes, the coat is basically the twin of the last canon badass longcoat seen before the acquisition of the poncho. I like the badass longcoat. Shush. Shortly, he and the horse will probably be flopping through the snow like some might-have-been Jeremiah Johnson scene (Wikipedia that trivia >>;;). How come this curse always falls around the time the heat index is 100+ degrees? How does this timing work? Network and action threads welcome. He'll be walking around today. Throw a snowball at him, I dare you!]

action then?

[Seeing as this man looks so confident, but serious, Setsuna can't help it.... He takes a chance when he's fairly certain he'll notice and aims a snowball at the man, hoping the snow won't bother the horse.]

[Setsuna's grinning to that, and not exactly hiding. Has another snowball in his hand, though.]

That was bad timing on my part. Or you're really fast.

[He tosses it up. He's thinking about it, but not throwing yet.]

If it's both, I might not wanna try my luck again, huh?

[He grips the snowball tightly - too tightly, it crumbles.]

Eh? I'll just find someone else to pester.

You just looked too cool, there with your horse.

Maybe. [Yeah...he can make another one later. There's a horse right in front of him, for now.]

But you have a horse, so I wanna linger just a bit more.

Is it a he or a she?

[Can't be helped. Horse is a beautiful horse. And No Name is kinda awesome looking.]

What's his name?

...so he doesn't have one?

I guess not. None of the forest animals have one. Don't think the ones at the zoo have names, either.

[Totally does. He's going forward to do just that.]

[Pets him a little more boldly after that.]

Good horse.

Mmm. [A final pat.] Maybe next time I'll have some carrots for you.

[Gives a grin.] Just all right? Seems pretty awesome to me.
Hope to see you guys around again!

Nice horse.

Have you ever shot anyone?

Well... It is a nice horse. And you are carrying a gun. I was under the impression that most people who carry guns shoot other people. Have you?

That means you have.

Had you intended to lie, you would have said yes, and readily. Playing coy is a sign that you've probably used it.

But you did not, you said maybe. And that means yes. No also means yes. Especially when you have a horse.
