002 :: Video

[Crowley is sitting outside, based on the background in the video, probably at a sidewalk cafe that's closed for the unseasonable weather. Occasionally a small snow-slide passes behind him - it's possible he's sitting under an umbrella. He's holding a mug with steam drifting up and takes a sip that doesn't fog the sunglasses he still has sitting on his face despite the obvious lack of sun.]

See, now this is what I mean. Blizzards in July. I suppose they aren't so interesting if you're accustomed to living in the southern hemisphere, but I've always been partial to Europe, which makes this a welcome novelty.

Indulge my curiosity, since I've been away a few years - what curses have you experienced in your time in the City? Which ones did you enjoy and which did you hate?

[ooc: He's just collecting information to keep from repeating the deities' efforts if he decides to start messing with people/the City.]

[He chuckles and takes a drink of his rum.]

I've started all kinds of things. I don't suppose you've ever googled yourself?

Why? You done that? [He sounds very unsure. Give it another minute.]

[Crowley shrugs and puts his own name in, bringing up a variety of sarky posts and the glaring announcement that Santa doesn't exist.]

Well, I already knew that about Santa.

[Since Crowley has nothing to hide, he has no issue with putting such tools in others' hands.

He could also tell Setsuna that it isn't technically googling but why not let him enjoy the word?]

[Yeah, but who knows what is so far back there on the network he might find.]

Drink? Sure. [He's barely paying attention, pulling out his own device to search for another name.]

[Wait. Stop. Turn.] How much you got in there, anyway?

[Considering Obi-Wan's gone, that's about as bad as it gets. On the other hand, it's awkward when people assume he and Aziraphale are a couple.]

As much as I need. [He pours and sets the thermos down on the table.]

Who are you going to snoop on first?

[Setsuna completely sympathizes with that. Everyone thinks he and his bff are together all the time, too.]

But how...? [Decides to stop asking and just drink.]

Don't know. Now that I know we can do this, maybe Kira-senpai. Or some of the people I saw in the Hall of the Missing.

If you have to ask...

Kira-senpai, huh? Why that one in particular?

Never mind. It's okay. Not sure I'd understand right now, anyway. [Back to the drinking.]

And that's 'cause he's my friend, so I'm kinda curious to what I might've missed. A lot of stuff is probably filtered, though.

Probably not. [Oh yes, onward with the drinking. Crowley's feeling quite pleasantly buzzed himself, for the moment.]

You should learn how to hack. You can learn some fascinating things behind filters.

[Doubtful Setsuna has the mind to learn how to hack.]

No.... If someone went through that trouble to filter something, then it's really not something I should be reading. Besides, I might not like what I find out.

You won't know until you see, and what's more important is that it might be something you need to know for the sake of people whom you care about. [Yech.]

[One that probably has the power to hack without all of the technical information needed, if he cared to.]

Hmmmm..... [Well, Kira does keep a lot of stuff from him.] No. If someone can't tell me something important themselves, then it's probably something they want to deal with themselves. Sometimes people gotta do that, you know? I've had to, and it was worth it.

[But if he does find out, he'll be there in a heartbeat.]

Because people with problems always make the best decisions, am I right?

[Maybe this bug he's putting in Setsuna's ear will yield some good... He takes another long swig from his cup.]

No.... Sometimes they make really stupid decisions.

[Now he's thinking about it, and chugging back another drink. Maybe if he had known? Would it have changed anything?]

Fine. How do you hack?

[Crowley is ready for a refill and he shrugs at Setsuna]

I said you should learn, I didn't say I could teach you. My methods are rather personal.

Oh. Don't know how else I could learn.

[And he'll probably forget all about it by the next day. He shrugs it off and puts out his own cup for another refill.]

What do you use hacking for?

My favorite was the M25. [He tops off Setsuna's cup and sets down the still-full thermos before leaning forward confidingly.] It took three hacks [two break-ins, one bit of bribery, and a night spent in a muddy field moving some surveying markers] to get it right, but now that motorway forms the sigil odegra in the language of the Black Priesthood of Ancient Mu, and means "Hail the Great Beast, Devourer of Worlds."¹

And what is the purpose for that?

[Crowley, currently securely inebriated, chuckles and leans both elbows on the table. He's not paying much attention, so he seems to be hissing on his sibilants a bit more than he was earlier.]

It's this metaphysical thing, all these people on this nightmare motorway, all irritated and fuming and winding their way through this ancient evil sigil, they're all energizing it, and everyone for miles around the motorway get the taint of it, then they go out and they spread it around, and the people they spread it to spread it around, and it's brilliant.

It earned me a commendation.
