Four Moons ℂ Video

[Lena's sitting near a window, watching the blizzard outside. She looks transfixed by the swirling flakes, so much so that one might think she turned on the camera by accident. But then she speaks.]

I've moved around a lot of places, but it was all in the South, so there was never much snowfall and never a blizzard like this. It looks like something out of those cheesy holiday films and tv movies.

[Her cat hops up into her lap, purring and kneeding Lena's thigh with her paws (and claws, ouch), before settling down.]

Anyone else around here come from a place with little to no snowfall? Maybe once it's over we can go run around in it. We could make snow angels. [She displays a secret smile at that, replaying a memory in her mind.] Or build a snowman.

[She shrugs.]

They came after me anyway. The Dark Casters, and others.

[This shouldn't remind her of home but it does and she focuses on taking a breath, first.]

Sounds like that happens in a lot of worlds that have magic.

You too, huh?

Something like that.

I guess it's necessary. If there's Light, there must be Dark to balance it. Still sucks when they come after you though, trying to make you pick their side.

That's why it pays to be stubborn as hell, I expect.

And to have a boyfriend who never gives up, no matter what.

[She smiles to herself.]

He's helped me through a lot.

[She pauses, then laughs, startled.]

Are you sure we aren't the same person, Lena?

[She laughs too.]

I take it you have such a boyfriend?

I take it we're the same way as girlfriends.

We just might be.

Obviously the best, then.

What's he like? If you don't mind me asking. I mean, obviously you care about him.

I do care about him. More than anything.

[She smiles to herself.]

His name is Ethan. We're connected in a strange way. Like we had a shared dream before we even met, and we can have conversations in our head. I know that sounds weird.

He used to play basketball, and he's really tall. He has brown hair that's always falling down into his eyes too. [Oh, how she misses that hair, and those eyes.] He's just... really understanding and caring. No obstacle is ever too big for him. No matter what, he always thinks we can work something out. That's what's so great about him, even though it can get frustrating too. He's like, endlessly optimistic.

[He's not the same as Harry, but the way she talks about Ethan reminds Ginny of him, anyway. Something about the tone of voice, the idea of a bloke who never gives up. Yeah. She gets that.]

He sounds brilliant. You must miss him. Merlin knows I miss Harry. [But that's a constant thing with the lives they've lead these past few years.] Is he magic too?

I do miss him. He was here, for that visitors' weekend. But now he's gone again and it sucks.

[She suppresses a sigh.]

No, he's not. It makes things difficult for us. Our worlds aren't meant to overlap.

Yeah, my boyfriend was here then, too. That and family might be the reasons I look forward to those weekends the most.

[A pause as she remembers what Lena's told her about her world and she sounds a bit apologetic.]

But you've managed, right?

So far. It-- It can't last, no matter what he says. We can't be together the rest of our lives and have a family if my touch hurts him.

[Her voice sounds strained, and she clears her throat.]

Sorry, I didn't mean to just dump that on you.

Lena.

[She says it softly, tentatively.]

Look, you can load whatever you want on me, alright? Stuff like that's hard and it's rubbish and it's worse when you can't really talk about it. And I mean, me and Harry—it's not exactly the same, but I get it. He's always been dangerous to be around. But it never mattered to me and I reckon Ethan's as stubborn as I was about it.

I never really could talk about it with anyone but him. So... thanks, Ginny.

[She sounds relieved now.]

You're probably right about that. But, how is Harry dangerous?

Of course.

[She laughs, brief and quiet.]

Some might say he's the most wanted wizard in Great Britain. Not now, not anymore, but there's sort of been a target painted on his back for years. He broke up with me to protect me, the idiot.

What'd he do? Steal from the rich and give to the poor?

[A pause.]

Sorry, I don't know if you'd get that reference. Robin Hood?

[She laughs.]

If you'd said that a few years ago, I would've been confused. I'm better about the references now—usually, anyway. But no, not quite like that. It's kind of complicated to explain, but the main bit is he ended a war.

[And for all that she avoids talking about it, it's surprisingly easy for her to say that much now.]

Well that's a good thing. And now that it's over, it's not too dangerous to be with him anymore, right?

I turned up here not long after things finished so I can't say. We've still got to rebuild, of course, I'm quite certain dating's the last thing on anyone's minds right now.

[She winces. Rebuilding after a war. She can't see that being easy, even with magic.]

Right, Of course. But if you still care about each other, you can ease back into it in time.
