[Here is a video at the beach. Saya's on a towel, while she is wearing a bikini all that's really visible are her bare shoulders.]

I'm told that vacations are good for people. That everyone needs a vacation. So I decided to take one: the Garage will be closed this week. Eames already took the week off as a holiday, so everyone else, enjoy yourselves.

The beach is relatively nice this time of year. It's warm.

[And she just molted so she's appreciating the warmth even more]

I know some people prefer the mountains, though. To get away. What are you getting away from? I'm on one but I don't think I quite understand vacations. Don't people choose to do what they like?

It could be the human tendency to anthropomorphise. Or maybe I don't think I'm that unique.

Have you ever owned a dog?

Just the cat and a fish.

[She looks over at him]

Cats are easy to anthropomorphize. The more human a face, the more familiar the features, the easier it is.

Not something I do, though I had this one girlfriend who used to make me talk to hers. [Really, he likes animals enough but there's no excess of sentimentality.] Wherever you're heading with this, I doubt the intent's to compare yourself to a dog.

[She closes her hands, cupped, and opens them. In the palm is a brown recluse the size of a quarter. She passes it over carefully]

[He takes it with a due amount of respect, letting it skitter to the tips of his fingers, where it stops, legs bent like a curled claw. Like every spider, a little bit alien, a little bit ancient. He glances back at her, gently wry.]

What if I told you I thought it was cute?

I would commend you for seeing what most people refuse to see.

[For a moment he bites down on his lip and on the impulse to say something laughable like - I think you're cute. He wouldn't deny that there are times he has to remind himself of what she is and isn't.]

They don't bother me. They do a job like everything else. [He offers the spider back to her.] I see your point. But you're not just a spider, either.

[She takes the spider back]

No, I'm not. If I were just a spider, I would be dead.

Then why would I limit what I think you're capable of?

[There's a pause]

I can love.

I've watched you talk about your brother.

[Of course.]

I'm not supposed to.
