[Jack bumps back automatically, though a significant part of him is still on alert.]

You haven't gotten into too much trouble yet, have you?

I suppose that would depend on your definition, but I don't suppose so, no. The night is still young yet.

[He takes a long draught from his glass. If he's going to try keeping it that way for the rest of the night, then he's going to need all the drink he can get.]

[Excellent. A few more and Jack might just loosen up a little. Turlough drowns half of his as well.]

I hope you don't intend to stop me having any more fun tonight.

Depends on what you mean by fun. [But that's probably a yes. Either way, he's still drinking.]

I don't know if I've decided, actually. But I'll keep you in know.

[Because he hasn't loosened up just yet. He's still looking around with a wary eye as he downs his drink, unconsciously calculating how quickly he can get from here to the door.]

[He reaches over and puts a hand on Jack's knee, casual as anything, as he finishes his drink. Don't ask what number this is, Jack.]

Kind of hard to do that in a place like this.

[And it's too late for that. He looks first to the hand on his knee and then to the empty glass.]

How many have you had already?

Four or five I think. I can't have been here long enough for any more than that.

[The hand moves a little higher up.]

[He notices that, but he's not going to say anything about it just yet. He has to steel himself against being flustered down here.]

That seems like a lot for you.

I'm not human. You can't know that alcohol doesn't work differently on me.

It didn't take much for you in my apartment that one night. [Unless there was some other reason Turlough was so keen on all that physical contact without turning it into something sexual.]

Fine, Trion's actually have lower tolerance. And I've had three. But it's not like I have anywhere to go tomorrow.

[Well. Jack wasn't expecting to hear anything close to an admittance of truth, so he's actually a bit surprised.]

Trion... That's the name of your, uh— species, huh? [He doesn't know if that's really a polite thing to ask, never having met an alien before Turlough, but he's honestly curious.]

Don't say 'species', it makes me feel like I belong in a zoo. And yes. It's the name of the central planet as well. There are a few other smaller planets that belong in the same system.

Sorry.

[He means it, but he's still curious as well. All this talk of aliens and other planets is doing more to distract him from their surroundings than any amount of alcohol.]

Are there, uh... Do people live on those other planets, too?

Yes. I grew up on one of them. Although calling it a 'planet' is a little generous. It was little more than a frozen asteroid.

Wow.

[Again, the sentiment is genuine. Even with the things he's seen, the places he's been (and was born in), he can barely imagine something like growing up on a different planet.]

Next round's on you, by the way.

Huh? [It takes him a moment to remember where he is.] Oh...

[He didn't exactly bring much coin with him, but the drinks here shouldn't cost that much, right? Either way, he's not in the mood for arguing, so he shrugs.] Okay.

[You're so cute when you agree with him. Three drinks in and he's feeling pleasantly calm and happy, so much so that he scoots his bar stool in a little closer.]

[Jack is at least a little calmer by now, from the conversation and alcohol both, though he's not feeling its effects so much that he doesn't notice Turlough scooting closer.]
