11th spell ~ [Video]
[Merlin's in the kitchen! At home, for once; he's not there so often lately, it seems. Especially in the evenings, so he thinks he'll stay home this once.
He's placed the phone on the counter, and he's looking very excited about something (and you may note his hair is getting rather long).]
Listen up, City!
[And it's a very important thing, okay.]
Do you know how amazing you've got it here? I mean... In Camelot, you couldn't just open a door to store things that need cold.
[He gestures wildly at the fridge.]
The best you could get were cellars, but even then you had to make most things on the spot. Do you have any idea how long cooking could take? And don't get me started on hunting! And these...
[Briefly, he digs around in his pocket and whips out a tiny package of pepper.]
These are genius. Travel packages already prepared! I wish we had this sort of luxury!
[He just often thinks of how comfortable the City is sometimes, okay.]

You having fun?

[So he had to marvel a bit. And before he can really think about it, he blurts out:]
Want to come over for dinner?
video:
[See, at least Merlin's girlfriend is understanding. He's known Arthur longer and she doesn't want to mess up their friendship.
video:
Oh. Yeah. You're right, of course.
[He licks his lips, and runs his fingers through his hair to pull it back as he glances to the side, somewhere outside of the screen. There's actually a note telling Arthur "food is under the foil" in a corner on the counter left over from one of the days where he cooked dinner and then left the house. God...
He hasn't even really realised. His mind has been so occupied by other things, and they're things he still needs to worry about.]

Not having a fridge would be pretty bad, yeah. It's nice you get to experience modern advancements.

[Now she's curious if he ever looks at a toilet and goes "whooooa!" But she won't ask.]
So, Camelot, huh? [As in, the Knights of the Round Table? She's not sure if she should believe it or not.] Do you miss it?

[He pauses, and frowns a little, incredulous.]
Actually, I think it might have something to do with the curse.

[wait, no, they're - ]
- microwaves?
audio;
They're, uhm... handy. Very handy. I think I prefer fresh meals but if you're in a hurry, they're great.

Centuries? Really?

The technology which your refrigerator makes use of was pioneered in the early 1800's, some two hundred years before the time to which the City correlates, though it took until the 1900's for them to become available for home use. And, of course, continued advancement and refinement of the technology has taken place consistently from the beginning up to present day. It's a truly remarkable thing about invention and engineering, that even after a piece of technology is created and becomes available, work never ends in making improvements and building upon that foundation.
[Babble babble babble, Doc. Sorry, Merlin, this is his stuff.]

[And the library too. It's been a pretty free day, or something.]
I'm cooking right now, I should hope that's just as useful.

... So what are you cooking? [ and will Merlin still be home when he gets there? He's afraid to rush back to find that he's not. Not that Arthur would ever rush at all. ]
