Can someone please inform my mother that six in the morning is not a time that normal people start baking? Especially when she's only just shown up within the last half hour?

[ Hi, City. Ariadne's looking rather bleary-eyed, Biscuit the cat's orange self plopped onto her lap and staring up at his human as she tries not to yawn into the camera. ]

I think we're going to need a new freezer to store everything in, guys. [ TOO TIRED FOR LOCKED MESSAGES TO HER HOUSE. ]

Anyway, I'm Ariadne and welcome to the City. [ Pause. ] Any familiar faces out there?

[ Okay, so maybe she's hoping for some... ]

If I had a pensieve here, I'd show one to you that way.

[Her smile softens, almost as if she can pick up on what Ariadne's thinking and feeling. She can't, of course, her magic doesn't work like that, but the same things filter into her own mind. The divide of worlds has always been something that both fascinated and devastated her. She thinks back to Claire and how the other girl's departure had hurt because this world was the only one they could exist together in.

She feels the same way about a lot of people, here. So she makes the most out of each visit.]

It suits him, you know. Having a family. [She wonders if she should mention George getting married.] We're all alright, you know. It's been years since the war, now, and it's gotten so much better.

Maybe someday.

[ She's been here since November now -- a far cry from Ginny's three years, but still. It's enough to know that someday it might happen. ]

People he can fuss over instead of his baby sister? [ There's a grin, but it fades into a smile at what Ginny says next -- soft, relieved. ] Good. I... worry, you know? The last time we had one of these weekends, Fred came back, and it just...

Well. I'm sure you remember.

[Yes, someday they'll go home. Ginny isn't certain if this is the weekend she left, too. She remembers that she did, though, with all the crowds, leaving it all behind. But she'll be back. She remembers that much.]

I do. I didn't when I was home, but when I came back...

[She shakes her head.]

George is happy, you know. I don't know if you want me to talk to you about him, I know how knowing the future can be and I'm enough of a shock as it is, but... he's fine.

[ Ariadne's quiet for a moment, Biscuit bumping into her hand for attention, which he's granted. ]

It's only been a few months since they left together, with all the fireworks. I'm not going to lie and say I don't miss them, but... I'm doing better. I just want all of you to be happy, so... thank you for telling me.

[ And she smiles. She means that, really. ]

Just a few months?

[She frowns a little, then sighs.]

I'm sorry, Ariadne. This place, it... doesn't give anyone much of a choice. I know you know that, but—it's not fair.

I know.

[ She shrugs slightly. ]

But... I mean, I'll be okay. I got through being a boy the other weekend, so I can get through anything.

[ That is a terrible attempt at a joke, Ariadne. ]

That was one of my first curses here. [She grins.] Being a bloke, I mean.

[She breathes out a laugh, leaning back.]

Alright, I'm responsible for making things depressing. Shall I cheer you up? It's a secret, though, you'll have to swear not to tell a soul. Especially me.

I'm still waiting on the men getting their turn. But I'll wait, I can be patient.

[ DID SOMEONE SAY SECRET because Ariadne sure is leaning forward. ]

Absolutely.

Don't knock anything over.

[And then she shifts the camera so the napping 11 month old James is visible on the sofa next to her.]

Oh my god.

[ That was definitely a squeal, though Ariadne claps her hands over her mouth a moment later -- she doesn't want to wake up the baby, after all. ]

He's -- is it a he? -- adorable.

[She chuckles, reaching over to brush her fingers through her son's dark, untidy hair. He might wake up, he might not. Merlin knows.]

His name's James.

He's gorgeous. How old is he?

[ Ariadne may not be ready for kids herself, but baby. ]

Eleven months, so almost a year old. He's trying to get a handle on walking, but he hasn't got the balance for it. Or he's too excited and tries to run before anything else.

[She grins.]

He'll be a Quidditch player in no time.

Oh, that's adorable.

[ Ariadne you've said that about fifty times ]

Just like mom and dad, huh?

I know. I'm so proud of him already.

[She looks at her son for a moment longer than back to Ariadne, and her expression softens.]

You're doing alright, aren't you, Ariadne?

[ The question surprises her, though it shouldn't, and Ariadne pauses before answering. ]

... Yeah. I'm okay. I could be a lot worse.

[Is this weird? It's weird. Ginny should have checked.]

I could go, if you'd rather.

Oh-- no, no, you're fine.

[ Ariadne chews on her lower lip for a moment before, hesitantly, asking something she maybe should ask 'her' Ginny: ] Do you, uh, have any tips for getting rid of vampire stalkers?

... sorry, come again?

I'm being stalked by a vampire and I was wondering if you had any tips. He regenerates. [ That last part is said a little miserably. ]

Ariadne.

[ALL THE CONCERN AND WTF.]

What did you do to earn the attention of a vampire?

Breathed? Honestly, I have no idea. Maybe it's because I look snack-sized.

I don't suppose just talking to the vampire's helped any?

He told me he wanted to use my entrails to get him through a labyrinth and keeps telling me I'm cute enough to eat. And he talked about eating my horse.

[Pause.]

I'd suggest going after him the traditional way, but, er... I'd imagine it's different in each world and you said he was indestructible, so—

[She tips her head.]

I could ward your place against him. It won't do much good when you're out on the street or anything and I'm sure the whole invitation thing applies here, but what harm could a few extra security enchantments do?
