Can someone please inform my mother that six in the morning is not a time that normal people start baking? Especially when she's only just shown up within the last half hour?

[ Hi, City. Ariadne's looking rather bleary-eyed, Biscuit the cat's orange self plopped onto her lap and staring up at his human as she tries not to yawn into the camera. ]

I think we're going to need a new freezer to store everything in, guys. [ TOO TIRED FOR LOCKED MESSAGES TO HER HOUSE. ]

Anyway, I'm Ariadne and welcome to the City. [ Pause. ] Any familiar faces out there?

[ Okay, so maybe she's hoping for some... ]

[She scratches him all over, behind the ears, on the head, on his chubby tummy]

I love doggies, I wish I could have one at home and-

[Wait there's something she should do here - oh, right - she gets up and latches onto Ariadne's waist with a hug]

[ Oh. Well-- Ariadne smiles and tries to hug back. Luckily she really isn't all that much taller than Abi... ]

You're welcome. Thanks for staying in one spot so I could find you. I'd have been really worried otherwise.

I wish Kristian was here. Then you could meet him.

[And get married this is perfect child logic]

Maybe he'll show up.

[ sdlkgh oh Abi ]

I hope so.

[She reaches for Ariadne's hand to walk along the beach]

He would say that I need to wear my sunhat. But he has it, so how can I wear it?

[ Ariadne lets her take it, squeezing slightly. ]

I think he'll forgive you, since he has it. I don't have one either.

You'll burn your nose.

[She points to her own nose]

That's what Kristian says.

And sometimes your cheeks and forehead. But we can stop and get sunscreen, maybe -- or new sunhats. Would you like that?

Can mine be green?

Absolutely! Come on, there should be a shop that sells them nearby.

Green is the best color.

I think Pancake thinks so, too.

[She looks down at him. Someone she can look down at! Hooray!]

[ Ariadne knows that joy well. ]

He probably does. Maybe he'll help you pick one out.

Did you know that if you swim deep enough everything looks green?

Really? That's neat. I'm not very good at swimming with my eyes open.

You have to cry a little.

The tears? Huh. I guess that makes sense.

Here I can put on my coat and show you.

[She's untying a pale blue raincoat from her waist]

Your coat?

[She's not supposed to show people, but since Ariadne is going to marry Kristian it's okay.

She slips it on and closes it up and suddenly a chubby white baby seal is rolling down the beach]

[ Pancake and Ariadne both stare for a moment before Ariadne practically squeals and Pancake starts barking, tail wagging in excitement because NEW FRIEND who smells suspiciously like his old new friend. ]

Adorable! [ But she does remember being attacked by that shark-thing, so she quickly runs after her. ] I don't know if the water is safe, though--

[Abi rolls and finally makes her way back up to Ariadne and Pancake in her odd seal waddle, flopping up the beach. She rolls to look up and her eyes -

That's definitely liquidy.]

[ Ariadne kneels down, keeping her grip on Pancake's leash tight in case he pounces a little more forcefully than necessary. ]

Oh, I see-- [ But mostly she's distracted because cute and seal and okay, so maybe one hand is going to gently stroke through Abi's fur while Pancake tries to nose against her, tail still wagging. ]

[Abi reaches one flipper up and suddenly she's a girl again, on her back, her raincoat open. She's giggling.]
