I accept. Been so long since I last joined a hunting party. Sanguine vampiric beings below are far too invested in 'politics'. It's choose a family/pack/house/whatever term they favor and must follow their restrictive rules on socializing, or remain neutral and alone.

I quite agree.

...It's a fortunate other members of my family aren't here. They lived for nothing but machinations and politics. Not a lick of spontaneity in them. And the price of breaking their rules was brutal.

Understandable when rules serve a purpose. Underground, it's just pointless grandstanding for the most part amongst the - hell with it, 'houses'. Back in the homeworld, there is fluidity. Here, below, almost non-existent. 'Loners' can't socialize amongst themselves outside of neutral areas without running the risk of being considered a 'house' and subjected to rules by the others.

They use the excuse of 'keeping the peace amongst the different vampiric breeds'. The truth, however, is egos playing at royalty.

Topside is more like how the homeworld is. Unfortunately, the vampires above tend to be toothless.

Hm.

Back home, we had two 'houses' - Diva's and Saya's - at odds with each other. But there was a long and bloody history between them. Here, I see none of that. It's just pomp and show.

Lord Rido, with all his airs, is a fine example.

My world wasn't idyllic. There were gangs, families, fighting, joining of fractions, friends, lovers, etc.,. It's not too different from human societies.

When I first arrived, was particularly pursed by recruiters. Several refusals and they quickly lost interest. Shortly after, I was approached by assorted other beings/creatures curious about the 'houses' extreme rigidity. One of the more amusing speculations that came up over drinks was 'yard long titanium rod, embedded with precious stones of initiate's choice, shoved up the ass'.

Fully agree. His arrogance oozes right thru the Network.

A titanium rod of encrusted stones is a good way to put it. Or a diamond-studded shock collar. With a solid-gold leash attached.

For interests of Diva's safety, I have to 'play nice' with him. Otherwise he might take the same liberties with her, as he did with Saya.
