[ Coulson's sitting on a bench in the park. There's a black labrador puppy curled up by his feet, tongue lolling out.

To the very trained and familiar observer, it'll be clear that Coulson's still holding himself a little more stiffly than usual, but for the most part he looks relaxed and calm. Approachable, even. ]

I'm going to have to find you a name, won't I? [ The puppy whines happily.

Coulson shakes his head slowly. When he speaks again, his voice in the same deliberate and even tone, he seems to be addressing empty air: ] Barton, if you're going to follow me around, at least be more subtle about it.

He probably will be, but I'm not sure he won't develop a superiority complex with that name.

He's a dog, Mr Coulson. If my owl didn't get a superiority complex with a name like Sir Weatherby, then I reckon your puppy would be fine.

You have an owl named Sir Weatherby?

[ A beat. ] Why Finbar?

I didn't name him, but yes, I do.

[Pause. How to explain Quidditch without explaining Quidditch.]

Fibar Quigley! He's an, er, athlete back home. So's Maximus, by the way.

[debrief]

[ Interesting choice in pets, but he doesn't comment. ]

I don't really follow sports.

voice;

[hexuality]

[She'll send you a gift one day with him, Coulson. Then you will understand the practicality of owls.]

No? Not at all?

[BUT COULSON.]

[debrief]

Not really. [ There doesn't seem much of a point. He has no particular affiliation with any team or any sport, his schedule is erratic at best and he sees enough athletics in his job. ]

voice;

[hexuality]

Oh.

[PAUSE.]

What if it involved flying?

voice;

[debrief]

What sport are we talking about?

voice;

[hexuality]

It's called Quidditch and it's from my world.

[Someone not liking sports is horrifying to her, okay. SO HEAR ABOUT THIS BADASS AWESOME SPORT, COULSON.]

We play it on flying broomsticks.

voice;

[debrief]

[ Flying— ]

All right. What are the rules?

voice;

[Aaaaannnnd she's off.

Ginny immediately launches into a fast-paced explanation about Keepers and Seekers and Beaters and Chasers, about Quaffles and Bludgers and the Snitch, about goals and points and fouls, about speed and rough-housing and flying. She probably doesn't take a breath during the whole thing and when she does, it's the only time she pauses, and then she adds— ]

You really have to see it to appreciate it, though.

I'd be willing to have a look at it. [ Mostly because she sounds so enthusiastic. It's— endearing. ]

[Endearing or OBSESSED.]

We can never get a full game going here, but if we ever do something, you'll be the first to know. [Brightly,] I want to play professionally some day!
