What do you believe happens to the dead once they leave the City?

I won't contest religious beliefs.

I'd like to request a few days off, assuming no one else gets murdered. Please.

[ooc: Euphie left, she and Justin had a weird thing going on that was rather emotional, and Justin's dealing the only way he knows how ~~that doesn't involve self-destructive habits he has outgrown~~, which is... thinking. (For those keeping score, he was already upset about Mara and the police force's lack of fixing things.)]

What answer do you want then?

A better one. There're people besides me who have been completely dead; maybe they experienced something different.

Maybe. I, personally, believe in Heaven. [Which means she also believes in a Hell, but Angela will leave that unsaid.] I pray that the people I know rest in peace .

[Most of all, she's worried about Cinna, for Angela will forever be unsure if what he went back to is his death or something that would just make him wish for death as a swift relief.]

Do you believe that prayer works?

I believe it's comforting. I can't say that I have solid proof that it works, but sometimes, I do it because it's an option when I feel like I don't have many others left.

That's the redeeming quality of religion--the comfort it can provide.

That's what all faith is for, religious or otherwise.

I don't suppose there's a way to cultivate faith in a skeptic...

Not religious faith, probably, but other kinds of faith. Do you hope about anything?

I hope that Euphie's afterlife is better than the preview I had of mine.

Then hold on to that hope. Even if there's nothing else in this place for you to believe in, hold on to that. There's your personal faith.

[Justin doesn't particularly believe what he hopes is true, and the hope itself in tentative, but Angela's trying. He makes her try too hard.]

Euphie made a trade with the deities for my life.

[She raises her eyebrows as that attempt to deny any free time.]

Yes, and a few other animals that were left behind. So you literally have your pick of the litter.

I'm afraid of dogs.

[And Justin might not be amused by Angela right now, but the little tabby is fascinated by the movement happening on the network device's screen.]

Since when? [This takes her by surprise.] All those times in my house and Biscuit has practically made you hers.

[Since basically forever, but--]

Biscuit's your dog. That's different.

But either way, you don't have to do the dogs if you're scared. Just tell them you're more comfortable around cats.

[Though she will never understand why people are cat crazy.]
