[ There's a man sitting in the ground by the fountain, his back against it: middle aged, in a suit, a badge pinned to his chest, and a very big gun in his lap.

He's also not moving and there's blood in the corner of his mouth, on his shoulder.

His eyes focus for a moment, and he manages a look of mild surprise. ] Boss? — [ a wet cough ] Does any S.H.I.E.L.D agent —?

[ Another breath, laboured, and he stills again. ]



[ ooc; Say hi to Agent Coulson. Replies will come after Bones and Roxas are done with him, all right? All right.

I've been better. [ Still with that tiny lift to the corner of his mouth that is, essentially, a smile. ] Been worse, too.

Yes. Interesting place. Have you been here long?

[There is a small smile in return.] It's a hazard working for shield.

[Bruce shakes his head.] I've been here a couple of days and staying out of the way.

You could say that.

[ Giving him a nod, more thoughtful than anything else. ] Have you talked to the others?

I have. It has been interesting, Thor has no knowledge of us.

[debrief]

He remembered me, but then I met him back in New Mexico.

[alwaysangered]

So, [There is a half smile] you seem to have had a hand in everything that's brought the Avengers together.

[Apart from himself but Bruce had no delusions about that. He wasn't a team member, the Hulk was, and no one was going to ask the Hulk for an opinion on anything.]

[debrief]

[ Allowing himself a slow smile as well. ] That's my job, Dr Banner. [ Was, now. Was his job. ]

You did a good job. They aren't scattered and separate anymore.

I would have preferred going another way about it. [ Dying was never the plan. ]

Everyone would have preferred that. You were bringing people together before that. It was at a slower rate.

[debrief]

Too slow. [ Looking away. ]

Maybe.[Bruce's fingers twitch for a moment before he places them briefly on Phil's arm.]

I still wish it hadn't happened.

[debrief]

[ He'd sigh, except that might hurt. So instead he just gives Bruce a smile-- a little tired, perhaps, but honest. ]
