[ There's a man sitting in the ground by the fountain, his back against it: middle aged, in a suit, a badge pinned to his chest, and a very big gun in his lap.
He's also not moving and there's blood in the corner of his mouth, on his shoulder.
His eyes focus for a moment, and he manages a look of mild surprise. ] Boss? — [ a wet cough ] Does any S.H.I.E.L.D agent —?
[ Another breath, laboured, and he stills again. ]
[ ooc; Say hi to Agent Coulson. Replies will come after Bones and Roxas are done with him, all right? All right.
AND CAN I JUST SAY AGAIN HOW EXCITED I AM a;sdfk;ldks ]

[ He'll be fine. It isn't that much more strange than alien demi-gods. ] I'm sure I will.

It's not that odd.
voice;
Then I expect you'll do fine adjusting. Some people take ages. Then again, some people're stuck here for ages.
voice;
I expect so. [ Wait. ] How long are people usually stuck here?
voice;
voice;
voice;
That's right. Sometimes I wonder what it'd be like to visit someone else's world, but I don't think that's possible. People can leave and come back, too.
voice;
The latter probably isn't possible in my case, but good to know. Thank you.
voice;
You don't know that.
voice;
I die. [ Sorry, Ginny. He's not really sugarcoating things, here. ]
voice;
Oh.
[She could say You don't know that, either, but he said he has people from home and... that's none of her business.]
I'm sorry.
voice;
Of course, he also doesn't know yet that she hasn't exactly seen him die, but, well. Given the condition in which he arrived here— it's not a stretch to believe it. ]
It's all right.
voice;
[But it's said softly, more to herself than anything else because she doesn't know this man. But still, that doesn't make it any less awful that if he goes home, it'll be a few seconds and then—what? Back here? She remembers when Remus was older and he'd arrived, talked about how he saw the Killing Curse come right at him. Seconds.
Bloody hell.]
Do you... have any other questions about this place?
voice;
Though he'd prefer not dying. ]
Could you tell me more about those curses?
voice;
They're definitely magic, for one. They come out of nowhere every few days and you've no idea if you're going to get affected or not, which is—of course—great. [No. Not ever.] Some are fairly harmless or annoying, little things, you know? But they can get rather destructive. Nasty, even.
I went back to being sixteen years old a few weeks ago, for example. Which is... not terrible, but bloody weird.
voice;
[ He can't even imagine turning sixteen again. That was— a long time ago. ]
voice;
Violent, sometimes. People— [Her brother, Percy.] —can die, though it isn't permanent here.
voice;
voice;
[Is it in poor taste to discuss death in this place with a man in a hospital? Well, he hasn't said otherwise, so Ginny answers.]
It depends, though, if you're dead by the City's standards or not. One of my brothers—dies—back home and when he arrived, he didn't have a heartbeat but he was walking around, talking, eating. There's no difference except the heartbeat thing. [The skin, too, cold to the touch. No breath. But that's too much.] But one of my other brothers got killed during a curse here and he was fine after midnight. I mean, his heart was still beating.
[Ginny pauses.]
So it could go either way if something goes wrong during a curse.
voice;
I'm sorry about your brother.
voice; 1/2
Thank you. It hasn't happened for me yet, I've just heard about it, but I... thanks.
voice;
So, erm. Yeah, just—you're better off being careful around here but even more so on curse days. You can usually tell by looking at the network or out your window if it's one of those days best spend indoors, yeah?
