...Yeah, it might, really. If no one keeps it up, it'd just be abandoned. Forgotten. [ She kicks a rock. ]

[That's one of her own greatest fear - that she'll be abandoned. Too much trouble, too much work, too many broken pieces on the floor that cut your hands on when you try to pick them up.

The other girl seems sad too. River's never been good at comforting people, but she feels obligated to try. Awkwardly, she reaches out to pat Toph on the head.]

[ Toph just stops, her eyes wide in shock. How--? Finally she kicks a rock and shrugs, trying not to look too bothered. ] I can't write home, anyway, I don't know how.

[ Scratches her arm suspiciously. ] But that other stuff couldn't have been. It's like you can mindbend or something.
