016 - Like A Wreck We Die To The Very Core - Video
/11: 03 PM/
[The feed starts with the device clattering to the ground. It shows a sliver of moon glowing in the sky, and the silhouettes of trees. Farther off, glittering placidly, is a lake.]
[A moment later, a sickening crunch. A thick drip-drip-drip. Red drops speckle the screen. The grass glistens with fresh-spilled blood. Over the noise, a horrible gurgling is heard. And a voice, hoarse and sibilant.]
...Useless. I can't even -
[Wet swallowing. A blood-slick hand scrabbles for the device. There is a blurred view of a dark-haired man. Slumped on his knees. A deep, deadly gash seeping from his chest. His eyes go bright with rage. And the feed snaps off.]
/05: 45 AM/
[Shirtless, Karl sits by the edge of the lake. Moon-bathing? The water casts an eerie shimmer on his body; spine a string of graduated pebbles under the pale skin. There is a dark wound across his chest. Jagged, ugly, the edges blood-flecked. Karl ignores it, hair falling dark around his face. Rage pours off him in sheets.]
Nothing poetic about a temporary death. Merely pathetic. Much like everything else here.
...
It wasn't true. The oblivion. The innocence. Nothing. I knew that. Does the City expect me to pine for it now? To wish for my worthless human past?
Never.
I know what I am. I know what she is.
We never rest. And we never forget.
[He turns his head, as if listening for something. Notices the blinking device. His eyes flash red.]
Ugh - !
[...And the device gets snatched up and hurled into the lake. Splash!]
[OOC: Don't panic, City! Karl requires no medics or polices! He's just in one of his destructive moods. And, um, has just attempted to rip his heart out of his own ribcage and crush it. Alas, with his healing abilities, it wasn't a sparkling success. Assume that replies will be delayed, while he stews.]

There's nothing poetic about death, temporary or not. Are you insane?
[As if that needs an answer.

I've seen people come back from dust and ash. There isn't an easy way out, just a few that smell worse in the attempt.

[Not quite a hurt whine -- (she wishes it had worked, so badly) -- but she's certainly upset.
Cry. She hates Chase so much right now.]text; *It probably took Karl this long to reply* xD
[He's despondent over Chase's information as well. What he learnt from Mr. Valentine only compounds that despair.]
